How the Five Compare on the Numbers
Thirty five listings sit on this pool and nearly all of them publish a capacity, a compartment count and a claim about leaks. Those are the specifications a lunch box is usually bought on. The one that decides how much work the box saves later is heat, because a container you can reheat in is a plate you do not dirty and a transfer you do not make.
Read for heat, these five say five different things. One names an oven. One publishes a temperature range and tells you to take the lid off. Two clear only part of the container for a microwave. And one puts the word microwavable in its title and never returns to the subject in a single bullet.
What the table cannot tell you is what any of these plastics or steels will actually take, because four of the five publish no figure. Oven safe without a ceiling and microwavable without a wattage are both claims that cannot be checked, and a container that fails in heat fails while it is full and being held.
The One That Names an Oven
Stainless, Silicone and Three Appliances
Tanjiae publishes the widest permission on this page: dishwasher, freezer and oven safe, on four 18/8 stainless boxes with silicone lids. For a kitchen counting steps that is the best case, because the box the food was packed in is also the dish it is reheated in and the dish it is eaten from, with nothing transferred and nothing extra washed.
It also publishes what it is honestly: 8 oz per box at 3.8 by 2.9 by 1.9 in, described by the maker as about the size of a tennis or baseball and recommended for children aged one to three. The lids are stated to be soft enough for a child to open, and the boxes stack inside each other with the lids off.
What It Leaves Out
No oven temperature appears anywhere on that listing. Stainless steel is untroubled by an oven, and a silicone lid is a different matter: silicone has a limit, and a listing that says oven safe without separating the steel from the lid is asking the buyer to guess. Three of the other four listings here do make that separation for a microwave.
The set is also four boxes at 0.6 lb with four lids to keep track of, which is four seals to check before a bag is closed. For one child’s snacks that is the point of the design. For an adult lunch it is four things to wash where one would do.
Which Part Goes in the Microwave
Trays Only, Lids Off
Bentgo publishes the clearest split: reheat from fridge or freezer, microwave trays only, and top shelf dishwasher safe. That is precise and it has a consequence, which is that the lid has to be put somewhere while the tray is in the microwave, and then found again. With ten trays and ten lids in the purchase, that happens ten times a week.
EASYFUN handles it with a removable tray instead: the tray comes out of the bento and goes into the microwave, leaving the outer box and its four locking buckles out of the heat. At 0.35 lb it is also the lightest purchase here, and it publishes 1000 ml across four compartments at 8.5 by 6 by 2 in.
A Range, and an Instruction
buluker is the only listing of the five that publishes a temperature at all: a safe range of minus 4 F to 248 F, with an instruction in brackets to remove the lids before heating. That range covers a freezer and a microwave and does not reach an oven, which is exactly right for a polypropylene and wheat fiber box and is stated rather than implied.
Its three compartments per box mean a meal can be reheated without separating anything onto a plate, and four boxes at 0.9 lb is a manageable weight. What it never publishes is a dimension of any kind, so 900 ml is the only figure available for planning a lunch bag around.
A Title That Says Microwavable
Five Bullets and No Heat
Everusely publishes a product title beginning microwavable stainless steel food containers, and then five bullets that cover safety and sustainability, the five sizes, food waste, leakproofing and appeal to picky eaters. Not one of them mentions a microwave, an oven, a dishwasher or a temperature.
What the bullets do say is worth something: premium grade stainless steel and food grade silicone with no plastics at all, five sizes at 32 oz, 21 oz, 13 oz, 6 oz and 3 oz with metric equivalents, and 100 percent leakproof transport, at 1.0 lb for the set. On the specification in its own title, the listing is silent.
Figures That Cannot Be Used
The same listing publishes package fields of 2.17 by 2.17 by 0.98 in. A set containing a 32 oz box cannot ship in a package that size, so those figures describe nothing and the five capacities are all this page can work from. Bentgo has a smaller version of the same problem, with a size field reading 6.5 inches and no dimension to attach it to.
Between them, three of these five publish no usable dimensions, which for a lunch container is a real gap: the question is always whether it fits the bag, and only Tanjiae and EASYFUN answer it, at 3.8 by 2.9 by 1.9 in and 8.5 by 6 by 2 in respectively.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
Reheating without changing dishes. Tanjiae, four 8 oz 18/8 stainless boxes at 0.6 lb with child friendly silicone lids, stated dishwasher, freezer and oven safe. No oven temperature is published for the lids or the steel.
Knowing the limit before you heat it. buluker, four 900 ml three compartment boxes at 0.9 lb with a published range of minus 4 F to 248 F and an instruction to remove the lids. It publishes no dimensions.
A week of lunches at once. Bentgo, ten three compartment trays and ten lids with 4 cup capacity and embossed measurements at 1.81 lb, microwave for the trays only and top shelf dishwasher safe.
One box with four sealed compartments. EASYFUN, 1000 ml at 8.5 by 6 by 2 in and 0.35 lb with a gasket in the lid and in each compartment, four buckles, and a removable tray for the microwave.
Five sizes with no plastic. Everusely, stainless boxes at 32, 21, 13, 6 and 3 oz with silicone lids at 1.0 lb, stated leakproof. Its title claims microwavable and no bullet supports it.
What We Could Not Verify
Each of the following is a question these five listings do not answer.
- What microwavable means on the Everusely set, since no bullet mentions heat at all.
- The oven temperature the Tanjiae boxes and their silicone lids will take.
- Any temperature figure for the Bentgo, EASYFUN or Everusely purchases.
- What the Everusely set measures, since its package fields cannot hold a 32 oz box.
- Whether any of these may be used under a grill or in an air fryer.
- Whether the buluker boxes may go in a dishwasher, which that listing never states.
