Who Writes Lush Food & Drink
How a page here actually gets made, and what we will not claim.
Lush Food & Drink is a small, in-house editorial operation. There is no newsroom and no roster of named experts, and we are not going to invent one. What follows is how a page on this site actually gets made, so you can judge the work rather than a list of faces.
How a page gets built
Every buying guide and review goes through the same five stages. None of them involve cooking with the product, and we say so on the page itself.
1. Topic selection
A page only exists if it answers a question nobody else on this site already answers. Before anything is written we check the existing pages for the same search intent. Where two topics would return the same results, they get merged rather than published as two thin pages competing with each other.
2. Product data
Specifications are pulled from the manufacturer’s own product listing through Amazon’s product data API. Nothing is typed in from memory and nothing is copied from another review site. Where a manufacturer does not publish a figure, the page prints not published instead of a guess.
3. Curation
Search results are not a shortlist. Amazon returns what sells and what is advertised, which regularly means four near-identical listings from one seller. We reduce every category to one model per brand so a comparison compares alternatives, and we drop any listing whose own description contradicts itself.
4. Writing
Each page is written against the data gathered for it. Claims describe capability, not performance: we will tell you a pan is rated to 500°F, because that is published, and we will not tell you it sears better, because we have not cooked on it.
5. Review before publishing
Before a page goes live it is checked for fabricated claims, broken internal links, duplicate content against existing pages, and any specification that cannot be traced back to a source. A page that fails any of those does not publish.
The standards we hold ourselves to
- No invented authors. Pages are bylined to the Lush editorial team because that is what they are. No stock photographs presented as staff, no fabricated job titles.
- No testing claims. You will not find “we tested”, “hands-on” or “in our lab” anywhere on this site, because none of it happened. The honest label is Researched & Compared.
- No scores or star ratings. The product data feed we use returns no customer ratings, so publishing one would mean inventing it.
- No prices. Prices change and a stale one is worse than none, so we link to the listing where the current price lives.
- Every specification traceable. Guides and reviews carry a Research Sources block naming the exact listings and ASINs used.
- Gaps stated, not filled. Each money page carries a “What we could not verify” section listing what we went looking for and could not source.
What we are not
We are not a testing lab. We have no product samples, no test kitchen and no measurement equipment. Where a question genuinely needs hands-on evidence, such as how loud an appliance is or how long a coating lasts, we say the answer is unknown rather than estimating it.
We are also not independent of commerce. This site earns affiliate commission on qualifying purchases, which is set out in full on our affiliate disclosure. Commission rates play no part in what gets recommended, and placement is not for sale.
Corrections
If a specification on this site is wrong, it gets fixed on the page rather than buried in a note. Send the page URL and the correct figure to hello@lushfoodanddrink.com, with a link to the manufacturer listing or manual if you have one. Corrections from readers take priority over new content.
