How the Five Compare on the Numbers
A cake stand has one job and one measurement that matters: how big a cake will sit on it without the icing hanging over the rim. Only one of these five publishes that figure. Martha Stewart states an 11 inch stand that fits a 9 inch cake, which tells you the usable plate is smaller than the stand, and that gap is the thing every other listing here leaves you to guess.
The pool also stretches the term. ChilkukUie and jubilander are single stands, one with a dome and one without. NWK is a pack of 11 plastic party pieces rather than a cake stand at all. Vecxoty is a 2 pack of stackable wooden risers whose own copy offers them as a spice rack, a shelf for figures and a cologne organizer, so it is a display prop that happens to hold cake.
Not one of these five publishes a pedestal height, which on a cake stand is the second most useful figure after diameter. It decides whether the stand fits under a dome you already own and whether it clears a fridge shelf. The NWK fields do carry a 13 inch figure, but its own bullets give 13 inches as the width of a square cupcake stand, so that is not a height either.
Diameter Is Not Cake Size
Only one listing closes the gap
Martha Stewart publishes both numbers: an 11 inch stand that fits a 9 inch cake. That two inch difference is the rim, the ruffled edge and the margin you need to lift a cake off without scraping the icing. It is the only listing on this page that translates its own diameter into something you can check against a cake tin.
ChilkukUie publishes 12 inches and jubilander publishes 10, and neither says what those figures describe. On a stand with a dome the outside diameter includes the lip the dome seats on, so a 12 inch stand with a dome may take a smaller cake than a flat 10 inch platter. Without a stated cake size, the larger number is not necessarily the more useful one.
Ten, eleven and twelve inches
Taken at face value the three single stands here run 10, 11 and 12 inches, which covers the normal range of home baking. A standard two layer round cake comes out of an 8 or 9 inch tin, so all three are plausible, and the jadeite stand is the only one that says so out loud.
NWK works differently again, publishing five diameters because it is five different stands: three round tiered stands at 5.8, 7.6 and 9.6 inches and two square ones at 10.3 and 13 inches. Those are cupcake stands rather than cake stands, and the largest figure in the pack belongs to a square, not a round.
Covered, Open, or a Whole Table
The only glass dome here
ChilkukUie is the only stand of the five that comes with a cover, a clear glass dome over an acacia base, and that changes what the product is for. A dome keeps a cut cake from drying at the edges and keeps flies off an outdoor table, and it turns a serving piece into short term storage. Its listing also says the dome is hand wash while the wood is wiped.
It is also the only one with a mechanism. A magnetic base locks the tray to the stand so the whole thing can be carried, and the tray lifts off to work as a flat platter for charcuterie. That is two products in one, and it is the only listing here that describes anything beyond a shape and a finish.
One stand, or eleven pieces
NWK is a dessert table in a box: 6 cupcake stands with extra high struts, 4 rectangular plates at 14.5 by 9.5 inches, and a tablecloth that fits tables up to 8 ft. The whole pack weighs 4.9 lb and the listing states 0.5 lb each for the stands, which is what plastic buys you. It is also the only thing here that is dishwasher safe.
Vecxoty is the opposite of specific. It is a 2 pack of stackable wooden risers, the only published measurement is 2.95 inches of riser width, and its own feature text offers it as a spice rack, a shelf for collectible figures, a liquor bottle display and a cologne organizer. It will hold cupcakes at a market stall, and it is not a cake stand.
Materials, and What Each Asks of You
Glass, acacia and plastic
Martha Stewart is handmade jadeite milk glass with a high gloss finish and a ruffled edge, which is a decorative object first. Nothing in its listing says whether it can be washed in a dishwasher, which for handmade colored glass usually means no, and the omission is worth noticing on a piece you will get icing on.
jubilander is 100 percent acacia coated in a thin layer of paint, and it is the only listing that explains the consequence: rinse it in warm soapy water and air dry it. ChilkukUie also uses acacia and asks for a damp cloth instead. NWK is thick plastic and is the only one of the five you can put in a machine.
Weight tells you what you are getting
jubilander is the lightest of the five at 2.34 lb and it is also the simplest, a single painted acacia platter with no dome, no mechanism and no second piece. Martha Stewart at 3.8 lb and ChilkukUie at 3.92 lb are close to each other, one being glass and the other wood plus a glass dome.
NWK is the heaviest here at 4.9 lb and that figure covers 11 separate items, so per piece it is by far the lightest thing on the page, which its own listing states as 0.5 lb each. Vecxoty’s 2.66 lb covers two risers. Comparing these weights directly tells you almost nothing, which is why the count in the box has to be read first.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
A nine inch layer cake. Martha Stewart. The only listing here that states the cake it fits, a 9 inch cake on an 11 inch stand, in handmade jadeite milk glass with a ruffled edge, a high gloss finish and a footed base described as sturdy.
A cake you cut and come back to. ChilkukUie. A 12 inch acacia stand with a clear glass dome, a magnetic base that locks the tray for carrying, and a tray that lifts off to serve as a flat platter. Wipe the wood, hand wash the dome.
A plain wooden platter. jubilander. Ten inches of 100 percent acacia with a thin painted coating, the lightest of the five at 2.34 lb, and the most specific washing instruction here: warm soapy water and air drying.
A whole dessert table at once. NWK. Eleven pieces: 6 plastic cupcake stands with extra high struts in five sizes, 4 rectangular plates at 14.5 by 9.5 inches, and a tablecloth for tables up to 8 ft. The only dishwasher safe option here.
A market stall or a vendor booth. Vecxoty. Two stackable solid wood risers with a published 2.95 inch width, usable alone or combined. Its own listing offers it for spices, figures and bottles as much as for food, so treat it as a riser rather than a cake stand.
What We Could Not Verify
Six things a buyer would reasonably ask that these five listings never answer.
- A pedestal height for any of the five, which decides whether a dome or a fridge shelf fits.
- What cake size fits the ChilkukUie or jubilander stands, only their diameters.
- Whether the jadeite glass stand can be washed in a dishwasher.
- Any diameter at all for the Vecxoty risers, only a 2.95 inch width.
- Whether the ChilkukUie dome seals against the base or simply rests on it.
- How much weight any of these stands will take, which none of them states.
