How the Five Compare on the Numbers
Six live pages on this pool already rank turntables by weight, height, base width, bearing and cleaning. For somebody buying their first one, the question is different: what else comes in the box. Two of these five are decorating kits built around a turntable, and three are the turntable, or something near it, on its own.
AOSHIDINGSHUO counts 78 pieces and Kootek 71. Ateco supplies a 12 inch aluminum plate and a non-slip pad. Bonsicoky supplies an 11 inch plastic plate with sizing circles on it. BSTKEY supplies a cake carrier that doubles as a turntable and says in its own package line that accessories are not included.
What the table cannot tell you is how much cake any of these plates will carry. No listing in this pool publishes a load limit, a maximum cake weight or a bearing rating, so a plastic plate at 0.57 pounds and an aluminum one at 5.07 are compared on their own mass rather than on what they can hold. Neither kit publishes a cleaning instruction either.
Seventy-Eight Pieces or One Plate
Two Kits and What They Count
AOSHIDINGSHUO publishes the fuller list. Around a 12 inch aluminum alloy turntable it names 12 piping tips, a cream icing nozzle, 50 disposable piping bags, a reusable silicone bag with two ties, two couplers, a cake leveler, a cream spatula, an offset spatula, a silicone decorating pen, a silicone scraper, a tip cleaning brush and three stainless steel scrapers, plus a pie server.
Kootek’s 71 covers the same ground with different emphasis: 12 numbered tips, 52 bags of which 50 are disposable, offset and straight spatulas whose lengths it publishes, three scrapers it distinguishes as rounded, straight and toothed, one quick-change coupler, and an e-book with a pattern chart and video tutorials. It is the only listing here that supplies instruction rather than only tools.
One Listing That Says the Accessories Are Not Included
BSTKEY is not really a turntable and it is honest about it. The product is a portable cake carrier in food grade PP with a lid, a double collapsible handle for one-handed carrying and a 3-lock closure, and the listing states that as a cake turntable it is convenient for display and decoration. Its final line reads that accessories are not included.
What it publishes instead is a full set of figures: 12 inches in diameter overall, 11 inches for the cake tray, 6.1 inches high, room for a 10 inch cake, 11 cupcakes on the reversed base, or five sections of snacks. That is more measurement than either kit gives, and it is the only listing here that carries the cake anywhere.
What the Plate Itself Publishes
Bearings on Three of Five
AOSHIDINGSHUO states professional quality stainless steel ball bearings and adds a claim nothing else makes: silent when rotating. Kootek states a hidden ball bearing with 360 degree rotation clockwise and counterclockwise. Bonsicoky states hidden ball bearings and makes the point that matters, that the spin works either way whether the baker is left or right handed.
Ateco and BSTKEY publish nothing about the mechanism. On Ateco that is consistent with the rest of a five bullet listing that says almost nothing, and on BSTKEY it is consistent with a carrier that happens to turn. So of the three purchases sold primarily as turntables, all three describe the bearing, and the two that are something else do not.
Circles Etched Into One Plate
Bonsicoky publishes the one feature on this page aimed at the cake rather than the stand: etched concentric circles at 7, 8 and 9 inches on the surface, stated to help center cake layers precisely for even frosting. On an 11 inch plate those three rings cover the common layer sizes, and no other listing in this pool marks anything on its surface at all.
The alternative approach is to stop the stand moving instead. AOSHIDINGSHUO states a non-slip base that prevents sliding on any surface, and Ateco gives a non-slip pad its own bullet. Those keep the base still while the plate turns, which is a different problem from placing a layer in the middle of it.
Figures That Are Missing or Wrong
A Turntable That Cannot Weigh What Its Field Says
Ateco publishes dimension fields of 12 by 12 by 5 inches and a weight field the fact sheet flags as far too light for an object that size. The listing describes an aluminum turntable, and its title adds a cast iron base, so the true figure would be among the heavier on this page rather than the lightest thing in the pool.
That is the one weight on this page that cannot be used, and it matters because weight is what a turntable base is for: a light stand walks across a counter under a palette knife. The other four figures are plausible and span a wide range, from 0.57 pounds of plastic to 5.07 pounds of aluminum with 78 accessories.
A Cast Iron Base Named Only in a Title
Ateco’s product title reads Revolving Cake Decorating Stand, Aluminum Turntable and Cast Iron Base with Non-Slip Pad. Its five feature bullets read: revolving cake decorating stand for cake decorating; aluminum turntable; non-slip pad included; 12 inch diameter turntable; handwash only. Cast iron appears nowhere among them.
On a stand whose selling point is a heavy base, that is the feature a buyer would most want confirmed, and the listing confirms it only in its name. Combined with a weight field that cannot be believed, it means the one thing Ateco offers over the plastic plates here is the one thing it never documents in its features.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
You are starting from nothing. AOSHIDINGSHUO publishes 78 pieces around a 12 inch aluminum turntable on silent stainless ball bearings, including a cake leveler, a pie server, a decorating pen and three stainless scrapers, at 5.07 pounds.
You want to be taught as well as equipped. Kootek publishes 71 pieces around an 11 inch plate, with a 12.5 inch angled and a 10.6 inch straight spatula, three named scrapers, a quick-change coupler, and an e-book with a pattern chart and video tutorials.
You already own the piping bags. Ateco publishes a 12 inch aluminum turntable with a non-slip pad and handwash only, at 12 by 12 by 5 inches. Its cast iron base is named in the title and in none of its bullets, and its weight field cannot be used.
The cake has to leave the house. BSTKEY publishes a food grade PP carrier stated at 12 inches across, an 11 inch tray, 6.1 inches high, for a 10 inch cake or 11 cupcakes, with a collapsible handle and a 3-lock lid. Accessories are not included.
You want help centering the layer. Bonsicoky publishes an 11 inch plate on hidden ball bearings with etched circles at 7, 8 and 9 inches, in plastic stated to wipe or rinse clean, at 0.57 pounds. Nothing else arrives with it.
What We Could Not Verify
These are the figures the five listings do not publish, or publish in a form that cannot be used, and nothing above has been supplied in their place.
- No listing publishes a load limit, a maximum cake weight or a bearing rating.
- Ateco’s title names a cast iron base that none of its five bullets mentions.
- Ateco’s published weight is flagged as impossible against its own dimensions.
- Both decorating kits publish no cleaning instruction for any of their pieces.
- AOSHIDINGSHUO and Bonsicoky publish no dimension fields at all.
- AOSHIDINGSHUO publishes no length for either of its two spatulas.
