How the Five Compare on the Numbers
Six covers came up and one is not a grill cover. The Blackstone listing is a griddle cover cut for the 36 inch Blackstone with a shelf attached and the Tailgater, its own bullets name two different fabrics, heavy duty canvas in one and 600D polyester in another, and its dimension fields read 67.0 by 27.0 by 25.0 inches, which cannot describe a cover for a 36 inch griddle. It is out on all three counts.
The five that remain specify fit in three incompatible ways. Classic Accessories, Unicook and SunPatio publish dimensions. Unicook and SunPatio also publish the grill width they suit, 47 to 53 inches and up to 30 inches respectively. Char-Griller and Weber specify by model instead, one with a list of ten numbers and one with a single grill and a year range. A cover is bought by measurement, and two of these five do not give you one to measure against.
The table cannot give you a fabric weight, because not one of these five publishes one. Blackstone, the cover left out of this page, is the only listing in the pool that named a denier at all. So the spread from 1.5 to 4.4 pounds is the only material figure available, and it mixes fabric thickness with cover size: the 58 inch cover being heaviest tells you less than it looks.
Three Ways of Telling You It Fits
Dimensions and a Grill Width
Unicook is the most complete on fit. It publishes 55 by 23 by 42 inches and then, separately, the grills it suits: most 3 to 4 burner models from 47 to 53 inches wide, with nine brands listed by name. Those are two different facts, the size of the cover and the size of the grill it will go over, and most listings conflate them.
SunPatio does the same at the small end: 32 by 24 by 43 inches for most 2 burner grills with folding side shelves, and 3 burner Kenmores up to 30 inches with the shelves folded. Classic Accessories publishes 58 by 24 by 48 inches and five brands but no grill width, so you are matching a cover to a grill by eye.
Model Numbers Instead of Measurements
Char-Griller and Weber both go the other way. Weber’s cover is for the 22 inch Performer Premium and Deluxe, 2005 to 2025 models, and publishes no dimensions of its own at all: only the fields, 25.5 by 48.5 by 39.8 inches, describe its size. Char-Griller’s size field lists ten model numbers and its bullets then name only two of them, the 1224 and the 2121.
That approach is exact if you own the grill named and useless otherwise. It is also the only way a grill maker can promise a form fit, which Weber does, adding a Velcro strap for a snug fit. Char-Griller calls its design extendable, which is the opposite promise and the listing does not explain what extends.
Waterproof, Water Resistant, or Nothing At All
The Three That Coat the Fabric
Unicook and SunPatio both claim waterproof and both explain it the same way, a vinyl coating over the fabric, and both add UV resistance, fade resistance and cold cracking resistance. Char-Griller claims waterproof material with a PVC lining, which is the same idea with a different name and no UV or fading claim beside it.
Classic Accessories is the careful one. Its Gardelle system is described as a water-repellent fabric top with a water-resistant backing and a dark splash guard skirt, and the cover is sold as water-resistant rather than waterproof. That is a weaker claim and a more precise one, and it comes with interior bound seams and high density stitching, which no rival mentions.
The Cover With No Water Claim
Weber, the only grill maker on this page covering its own grill, says nothing about water. Its bullets give 100% durable polyester, lightweight and tough in all kinds of environments, form fitted, a Velcro strap and a hidden storage pouch. There is no waterproof claim, no water resistance claim, no UV claim and no coating named.
That is worth noticing rather than assuming. A form fitted polyester cover from the grill’s maker will fit better than anything else here, and the listing does not promise it will keep rain off the grill. The four other covers all make a water claim of some kind, and three of them name the coating that backs it.
Wind, Vents and Getting the Cover Back On
Only Two Covers Have Vents
Unicook fits large mesh vents on two sides and gives the best reason on this page for them: they equalize air pressure inside and out, which stops the cover lifting in wind, as well as letting moisture out. Classic Accessories lists air vents for air flow and ventilation. SunPatio, Weber and Char-Griller publish no vents at all.
A sealed cover on a grill that is still warm traps moisture, which is why Unicook also tells you to let the grill cool completely before covering. It is the only listing in this pool that says so, and it is the only one that gives a care routine: hose the cover, then air dry it in the sun.
Four Fastening Systems, One Silence
Classic Accessories has the most hardware: click close straps that snap at the front plus an elastic hem cord with toggles to draw the bottom in, and padded handles to pull it on and off. Unicook and SunPatio both use straps and both put handles on the cover that double as hanging loops when it is off the grill.
Weber uses a single Velcro strap and hides a storage pouch inside the cover, so the cover packs into itself and nothing dangles when the grill is in use. Char-Griller publishes no straps, no handles and no vents, and asks for a hand wash. It is the plainest cover here and the lightest of the four with a published fit.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
A three or four burner gas grill. Unicook publishes 55 by 23 by 42 inches and a 47 to 53 inch grill width, nine compatible brands, vinyl coated waterproof fabric, mesh vents on two sides, straps, handles and a care routine. At 3.2 pounds it is the second heaviest of the five.
A windy garden and a cover that has to stay on. Classic Accessories adds an elastic hem cord with toggles to its click close straps, plus interior bound seams and high density stitching, on a 58 by 24 by 48 inch body. It is water resistant rather than waterproof, and at 4.4 pounds the heaviest here.
A two burner with folding side shelves. SunPatio publishes 32 by 24 by 43 inches and, unusually, names the grills it will not fit, including the Weber Spirit II E-210 and any grill whose side shelves do not fold. FadeStop fabric with a waterproof vinyl coating, at 2.5 pounds.
A 22 inch Weber Performer. Weber’s own cover is form fitted with a Velcro strap and an integrated pouch hidden inside, for Premium and Deluxe models from 2005 to 2025. At 1.5 pounds it is the lightest of the five, and its listing makes no water claim whatsoever.
A Char-Griller from the listed range. Char-Griller’s cover names ten model numbers in its size field, in polyester with a PVC lining, published at 46 by 23 by 48.5 inches and 2.2 pounds. It asks for a hand wash and publishes no straps, handles or vents.
What We Could Not Verify
Every figure above comes from the makers’ own listings. These are the things we went looking for and could not source.
- Not one of these five publishes a fabric weight or a denier, so the 1.5 to 4.4 pound spread is the only material figure available.
- Weber publishes no dimensions of its own, so only its fields describe the cover’s size.
- Weber makes no water claim at all, and no listing states a hydrostatic rating or a water column figure.
- Char-Griller calls its design extendable and never says what extends or by how much.
- Char-Griller’s size field lists ten models and its bullets name only two, and nothing reconciles the two lists.
- No listing publishes a warranty period, and only two give any care instruction at all.
