How the Five Compare on the Numbers
A deep drawer is the one storage space that does not care how tall a lunch box is. The height fields on these five read 1.75, 1.8, 2.0, 2.6 and 2.6 inches, and every one of them goes in. What a drawer still charges for is floor, and there the five are nothing like each other: Bits Kits publishes 6.25 by 5.0 inches and Reeple publishes 6.81 by 8.74 inches.
Two of the five back their fields with a sentence. P&P CHEF writes that the box measured 7.9 by 5.5 by 2.6 inches, and Bits Kits writes overall measurements of approximately 6.25 by 5.0 by 1.75 inches. The other three publish fields and nothing else, so VACAID’s 5.5 by 8.6 by 2.6 inches, Shell and Turtle’s 6.1 by 8.4 by 2.0 and Reeple’s 6.81 by 8.74 by 1.8 stand alone.
What the table cannot settle is which of the three fields faces the drawer front. These listings publish a width, a depth and a height and none of them says which direction is which, so a reader with a narrow drawer has to guess and a reader with a deep one does not have to care. Six listings were left out of the five on this page: they are loose silicone cup sets with no box to measure at all.
What a Deep Drawer Stops Charging For
The Height Fields All Fit
The height figures here run 1.75, 1.8, 2.0, 2.6 and 2.6 inches. Bits Kits is at 1.75 and Reeple at 1.8, and both are flat trays with four sections. VACAID and P&P CHEF are both at 2.6 inches, and both are the boxes with a divider you can move. Shell and Turtle sits between them at 2.0 inches.
In a lunch bag that spread decides everything, because a bag has room across and not above. In a drawer with height to spare it decides nothing, because all five clear the same opening. So this page ranks on the only other published dimensions, the pair the fields call width and depth, and on whether the maker says anything at all about them.
The Floor Figures, Stated Plainly
Bits Kits asks for the least floor and says so in its own words: approximately 6.25 inches wide by 5.0 inches deep. It is a four section snack tray rather than a meal box, and its own bullet explains the trade. The box is not airtight, gaps sit under the dividers, and the listing asks for dry food only.
At the other end Reeple publishes 6.81 by 8.74 inches, a kids tray with four sections and a clear lid. VACAID publishes 5.5 by 8.6 inches and P&P CHEF publishes 5.5 by 7.9 inches, so those two share a width field and part on depth. Shell and Turtle publishes 6.1 by 8.4 inches with four fixed compartments and a gasket in each.
Where the Published Figures Have a Second Source
Two Listings That Write the Size Out
P&P CHEF puts the size in its last bullet: the bento box measured 7.9 by 5.5 by 2.6 inches, with a capacity of 1400 ml or 49 ounces. Its three fields read 5.5, 7.9 and 2.6 inches, which is the same three numbers in a different order. Nothing on that listing is in dispute, which on a page like this is worth saying out loud.
Bits Kits goes further and measures a compartment. Its third bullet gives each section as approximately 3 inches wide by 2.375 inches deep by 1.5 inches high, and the overall box as approximately 6.25 by 5.0 by 1.75 inches. It is the only pick here that publishes an inside figure, and the only one that says what four sections actually means.
Three Listings With Fields and No Sentence
VACAID publishes 5.5 by 8.6 by 2.6 inches in its fields and states no size anywhere in its text. What it does state is 47 ounces, SUS304 stainless steel, two removable dividers that make two or three sections, and 1.06 pounds, which is the only figure available to check its claim of being compact, slim and lightweight.
Shell and Turtle and Reeple are the same case with less to fall back on. Shell and Turtle publishes 6.1 by 8.4 by 2.0 inches and a capacity three ways, as 1200 ml, 40 ounces and 5 cups, and no weight. Reeple publishes 6.81 by 8.74 by 1.8 inches and 32 ounces, and no weight either.
What Each Box Does With the Space
Fixed Sections Against a Divider That Moves
Two of the five let the layout change after buying. VACAID ships two removable dividers and says they create two or three separate sections, with rounded touch points rather than sharp edges. P&P CHEF ships one T-shaped movable divider and says it gives a box with one compartment or three, which it describes as a main course and two small side dishes.
The other three are fixed. Bits Kits, Shell and Turtle and Reeple all publish four sections, and none of those three names a divider you can lift out. On Bits Kits the dividers are part of the tray and the listing says there are gaps underneath them, which is exactly why it asks for dry food only.
Seals, Heat and What Else Is in the Box
Shell and Turtle states the most seal: an embedded silicone gasket in the lid, a corresponding gasket for each compartment, and four locking buckles. P&P CHEF states a detachable silicone sealing ring and two locking clips. Reeple states thick seals and a detachable ring. VACAID is leak-proof in its title and names no gasket at all, and Bits Kits says it is not airtight.
Heat is where these listings argue with their own headlines. VACAID clears the dishwasher and the freezer and then rules out the microwave. P&P CHEF clears the freezer, the oven and the dishwasher and rules out the microwave. Shell and Turtle clears the microwave for the container and excludes the lid. Reeple and Bits Kits name a dishwasher rack and nothing else about heat.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
The reader with a deep drawer and a big lunch. Reeple. Fields of 6.81 by 8.74 by 1.8 inches and a 32 ounce capacity, four sections, a clear lid and a detachable sealing ring cleared for the top rack of a dishwasher.
The reader who wants the layout to change. VACAID. Two removable dividers for two or three sections, 47 ounces, fields of 5.5 by 8.6 by 2.6 inches and a published weight of 1.06 pounds. Dishwasher and freezer, not the microwave.
The reader who wants a figure in the maker’s own words. P&P CHEF. Its own bullet states 7.9 by 5.5 by 2.6 inches and 1400 ml or 49 ounces, with one T-shaped divider, two locking clips and a detachable sealing ring.
The reader who wants everything in one purchase. Shell and Turtle. Fields of 6.1 by 8.4 by 2.0 inches, a capacity given as 1200 ml, 40 ounces or 5 cups, four locking buckles, a gasket per compartment, and a spoon, fork, sauce jar and four liners.
The reader packing dry snacks. Bits Kits. Overall 6.25 by 5.0 by 1.75 inches and 3 by 2.375 by 1.5 inches per section, at 0.4 pounds. The listing says it is not airtight, so dry food only.
What We Could Not Verify
Six things this page went looking for and could not source.
- A weight for Reeple, Shell and Turtle or P&P CHEF. Three of these five publish none, and P&P CHEF calls itself lightweight anyway.
- A size in the words of VACAID, Shell and Turtle or Reeple. Their dimension fields have no second source on the listing.
- A capacity figure from Bits Kits. It publishes four compartments and a section size and no volume at all.
- A microwave, oven or freezer statement from Reeple. It clears the top rack of a dishwasher and says nothing else about heat.
- Whether any of these five stacks on another, which is the obvious thing to want in a deep drawer. Not one of the five makes a stacking claim.
- Which of the three published dimension fields faces the front of a drawer. No listing here says which of its numbers is which.
