The whole point of a nesting set is that it takes less cupboard than the bowls would separately. So the figure that ought to head every one of these listings is how much space the nested stack occupies. Exactly one of the fourteen listings in this pool publishes it, which tells you most of what you need to know about the category.
Three of these five publish a weight, at 0.88 pounds for the HANDIT stainless containers, 1.81 pounds for the Oggi plastic set and 8.89 pounds for the Pyrex glass set. Stated capacities run from 8 fl oz at the small end to 101 fl oz at the large, and the bowl counts run from three to six.

The table cannot tell you bowl diameters or heights for any of the five, because every one is a set and their published fields describe cartons. It cannot give a weight for the Joseph Joseph or Winproper sets. And it cannot tell you whether the Joseph Joseph containers may go in a microwave, freezer or dishwasher, since that listing addresses none of the three.
Only One Set Tells You How Much Space It Takes
The nested footprint
Joseph Joseph states the dimensions of the nested set: 7.75 by 9.5 by 6.5 inches, holding five containers and five lids that snap together. That single figure is what a nesting set is for, and it is the only one in this pool. It means you can measure a shelf before buying rather than after.
Its capacity list is equally unusual. The five containers are stated as 8 fl oz, 18 fl oz, 37 fl oz, 63 fl oz and 101 fl oz, and then restated as 1, 2.2, 4.6, 7.7 and 12.5 cups. No other listing here gives two unit systems, and none states that the lids lock together so they store as one object rather than a loose pile.
What the carton figures can and cannot say
Every other pick publishes only a package size. HANDIT’s carton is 6 by 6 by 4 inches, which for five containers from 8 oz to 32 oz is plausible and tells you the set is genuinely small. Oggi’s is 9 by 9 by 5 inches and Winproper’s is 10 by 10 by 5 inches, both consistent with a nested stack plus lids.
Pyrex publishes 11 by 11 by 12 inches, which is taller than the others because glass bowls with lids do not nest as tightly as steel or plastic ones. A carton is not a nested stack, so these figures are an upper bound rather than a measurement. Umite Chef in the same pool publishes 2.0 by 2.0 by 2.0 inches, which is a placeholder and nothing more.
Sizes, and Whether They Cover Your Jobs
Small portions against big batches
HANDIT is built for small things: 8, 12, 16, 18 and 32 oz, which the listing frames as snacks, sauces, leftovers and portion control. Nothing in that set is a mixing bowl. Winproper covers the opposite range, six bowls from 4.5 QT down to 0.7 QT, so one set handles a batter and a dressing.
Pyrex sits in the middle with 1.3, 2.3 and 4.5 qt, which is three bowls doing the work most kitchens need, and Oggi with 0.7, 1.4, 2.6 and 4 quart. Joseph Joseph runs from 1 cup to 12.5 cups, which is roughly 0.06 to 0.78 of a gallon expressed a different way, and is the only set stated in both fluid ounces and cups.
Counts and sizes that do not match
Several listings in this pool cannot agree with themselves about what is in the box. Winproper, one of the picks here, states six bowls and six lids plus three graters in its bullets, which is fifteen pieces, while its size field reads 9pack. The bullet list is the more specific statement and is what this page uses.
Others are worse. BAKKENMASTER states a twelve piece set of six bowls and six lids and then lists only five sizes. E-far states three different sizes and writes them as 4.5, 3.1.5 QT, which is two numbers run together. Umite Chef publishes 0.82 pounds for five stainless bowls, five lids and three graters, which is less than a quarter of what three stainless bowls weigh elsewhere in this pool.
Lids, Heat and Cold
Five different lid designs
Joseph Joseph states lockable snap together lids, so the lids themselves clip into a single unit rather than filling a drawer. Winproper states an airtight BPA free lid with a removable inner lid on the 4.5 qt bowl, so you can add ingredients or fit a mixer without taking the whole lid off.
Oggi states see through airtight lids and a ribbed base for grip, Pyrex states BPA free plastic lids designed for a secure fit, and HANDIT states snap on BPA free lids. All five make an airtight or tight fitting claim, and none publishes a seal material except Winproper, which names food grade plastic rather than silicone.
Microwave, freezer and dishwasher claims
Oggi makes the broadest claim: dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe, without splitting bowls from lids. Pyrex splits them carefully, stating that the BPA free plastic lid is freezer, microwave and top rack dishwasher safe, and leaving the glass bowls to Pyrex’s general reputation rather than a sentence.
HANDIT states freezer and dishwasher safe. Winproper states the bowls can be stored in a freezer and washed in a dishwasher, and adds a note to remove the lid first. Joseph Joseph states none of it: not microwave, not freezer, not dishwasher, on the one listing here that otherwise documents itself best.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
You want to measure the shelf first. Joseph Joseph states a nested set of 7.75 by 9.5 by 6.5 inches holding 8, 18, 37, 63 and 101 fl oz containers, also given as 1 to 12.5 cups, with lockable snap together lids and color coding.
Glass, and lids that take heat. Pyrex states 1.3, 2.3 and 4.5 qt tinted glass bowls with BPA free lids stated freezer, microwave and top rack dishwasher safe. It publishes 8.89 pounds, the heaviest of the three that publish a weight.
Small portions and sauces. HANDIT states five stainless containers at 8, 12, 16, 18 and 32 oz with snap on lids, freezer and dishwasher safe. It publishes 0.88 pounds, the lightest of the three that publish a weight, in a 6 by 6 by 4 inch carton.
Prep, store and microwave in one bowl. Oggi states four plastic bowls at 0.7, 1.4, 2.6 and 4 quart in four color combinations, with see through airtight lids, a ribbed base and dishwasher, microwave and freezer safety. It publishes 1.81 pounds.
One set for every job. Winproper states six 304 stainless bowls from 4.5 QT down to 0.7 QT with six airtight lids, three grater attachments and a removable inner lid on the largest bowl. Freezer and dishwasher safe with the lid off.
What We Could Not Verify
These are the figures a busy kitchen would want, and that these listings do not give.
- Bowl diameters and heights for all five, since every published field is a carton.
- A nested set size for four of the five, published only by Joseph Joseph.
- A published weight for the Joseph Joseph and Winproper sets.
- Whether the Joseph Joseph containers are microwave, freezer or dishwasher safe.
- The seal material in any lid here, named by none of the five.
- Whether the Pyrex glass bowls themselves, rather than their lids, are microwave and dishwasher safe.
