A banneton is sold by a single number, usually ten inches, and that number tells you almost nothing. What a new baker needs to know is how much dough it holds, what it is made of, how it is cleaned and what else is in the box. Two of these five publish a dough capacity. The rest leave you to infer it from a length.
Published weights run from 0.49 pounds for the single Bakeaura basket to 2.43 pounds for the BAVIFY kit, the heaviest of the five, which contains two baskets and a set of tools. The materials split three ways: rattan cane, spruce wood pulp and food grade silicone, and each asks something different of you.

The table cannot tell you how a basket smells after six months in a humid cupboard, because no listing publishes anything about that and nothing here was used. It cannot give a dough capacity for three of the five. And it cannot give a wall thickness for any of them, which is what actually decides whether a basket holds its shape under wet dough.
Two Baskets Say How Much Dough They Hold
750 grams and one pound
Bulka states that its 11.4 inch oval basket is sized for 750 g breads. yeatruojeet states that its 10 inch baskets hold 1 pounds of dough. Those are the only two dough figures in this pool, and they are the figures a recipe actually gives you, since almost every sourdough formula is written by weight rather than by basket length.
The two are close in practice. A pound is a little over 450 grams, so Bulka’s basket takes meaningfully more dough than yeatruojeet’s, which is consistent with 11.4 inches against 10. What neither tells you is the tolerance: whether 750 g means comfortably or at the limit, and whether a wetter dough behaves the same.
What ten inches does not tell you
Three of these five state only a length. BAVIFY states a 9 inch round and a 10 inch oval basket. JOCXSPI states the same pair of sizes in silicone. Bakeaura states a 10 inch oval. None of the three says how much dough that holds, and a ten inch basket can be shallow or deep without the name changing.
Depth is the missing figure and it is inconsistently published. Bakeaura publishes 2.5 inches of height, Bulka 2.8 inches, JOCXSPI 3.7 inches and BAVIFY 4 inches. Those are the fields rather than stated depths, so they should be read with caution, but the spread of an inch and a half across nominally similar baskets is the point.
Rattan, Wood Pulp and Silicone
Three materials, three cleaning routines
The three rattan picks all describe the same routine in slightly different words. yeatruojeet states you shake the excess flour out after each use and, if dough sticks, wait for it to dry and use a stiff brush. BAVIFY says cleaning up is a breeze without saying how. Bakeaura says nothing about cleaning at all.
Bulka is spruce wood pulp, bound by its own natural lignin, and states it has no added binders, unlike grass or paper pulp baskets. It states thick dense walls that insulate the dough and hold proofing temperature steady, and that the porous pulp draws moisture off the surface. It is the only pick making a thermal claim.
Only one goes in the oven
JOCXSPI is silicone and that changes everything about the routine. It states the baskets rinse clean in seconds or go straight into the dishwasher, that they withstand up to 450 F or 230 C, and that they can go into the oven for baking rather than only proofing. It also includes two clear lids so you can watch a cold proof without uncovering it.
No rattan or wood pulp basket in this pool makes any of those claims, and none should. The trade is that silicone does not wick moisture from the dough surface, which is the reason rattan and spruce pulp exist. HEBEICRMY, also silicone in this pool, adds handles and a collapsible body for storage, which is the other silicone advantage.
What Actually Comes in the Box
Liners, tools and an ebook
For a starter kit this is the deciding section. BAVIFY includes a 9 inch round basket, a 10 inch oval basket, two linen liners, a silicone bread sling, a dough whisk and a dough scraper. That is the closest thing here to arriving ready, and its 2.43 pounds is the weight of all of it rather than of a basket.
Bakeaura includes one linen liner, a digital recipe eBook and a non woven storage bag, which is a thoughtful set for one basket. yeatruojeet includes two baskets and two liners. JOCXSPI includes two baskets and two lids and no liners, because silicone does not need one. Bulka includes the basket and nothing else.
Sizes that argue with their own titles
Several listings in this pool cannot agree with themselves on size. GIONG’s title says 9.5 inch and its size field says 10 by 6 by 3 inches. Kikcoin’s title says 5 Inch Mini while its size field says 6 inch and its bullet states 6 inches, or 17 cm, in diameter and 2.4 inches high.
BetterJonny is the strangest. Its bullet states outside dimensions of 12 by 5.7 by 3 inches, its size field reads a rectangle at 12 inches with a metric equivalent of 30 by 16 by 7 cm, and its published fields read 8.5 by 8.5 by 3.5 inches. Three descriptions, one basket, and the word rectangle on an oval product.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
Starting from nothing. BAVIFY includes a 9 inch round basket, a 10 inch oval basket, two linen liners, a silicone sling, a dough whisk and a dough scraper, in Indonesian rattan. It publishes 2.43 pounds, the heaviest of the five, for the whole kit.
Baking to a recipe weight. Bulka states an 11.4 inch oval basket sized for 750 g breads, in spruce wood pulp bound by its own lignin with no added binders, handmade in Germany. It publishes 0.82 pounds and claims thick insulating walls.
Two loaves at a time. yeatruojeet states two 10 inch oval baskets holding 1 pounds of dough each, in Indonesian rattan cane with two liners. It publishes 0.86 pounds and gives the clearest cleaning instruction of the rattan picks.
You want it in the dishwasher. JOCXSPI states a 9 inch round and a 10 inch oval silicone basket with two clear lids, rated to 450 F or 230 C, oven safe and dishwasher safe. It publishes 1.51 pounds and folds down for storage.
One basket, well presented. Bakeaura publishes 0.49 pounds, the lightest of the five, and states a 10 inch oval basket in pure Indonesian rattan with a linen liner, a digital recipe eBook and a non woven storage bag.
What We Could Not Verify
These are the figures a new baker would want, and that these listings do not give.
- A dough capacity for the BAVIFY, JOCXSPI and Bakeaura baskets.
- Wall thickness for any of the five, so shape retention cannot be compared.
- A stated internal depth for any pick, as opposed to a published field.
- Any cleaning instruction from Bakeaura, and any method from BAVIFY.
- Whether the three rattan picks may be washed with water beyond a hand wash mention.
- Whether 750 g is a comfortable fill or a limit, on the one basket that states a gram figure.
