How the Five Compare on the Numbers
A compact cabinet does not care what one strainer measures. It cares how many objects arrive and whether they go in the same slot. These five listings put 8, 4, 3, 1 and 1 pieces in the box, and only one of them says anything at all about the pieces stacking together. Leooomap states that its compact nesting design allows all four to store in the space of one.
The package figures are worth reading beside that claim. Leooomap publishes 5.51 x 13.39 x 5.51 inches for four baskets each stated at 5.5 inches in diameter, which is about one basket’s cross-section. Patelai publishes 5.51 x 13.78 x 5.51 inches for eight baskets of the same stated diameter, and never uses the word nesting anywhere in its listing.
The table cannot tell you whether the eight Patelai baskets nest, because the listing never says. Its package figure of 5.51 x 13.78 x 5.51 inches is close to Leooomap’s 5.51 x 13.39 x 5.51 inches for four, which is suggestive and not a claim, and we have not treated it as one. Nor can the table tell you how much of each multipack weight belongs to one basket, since none of the three multipacks splits its figure.
How Many Objects Land in the Cabinet
The One Listing That Claims They Stack
Leooomap is the only one of the five to address storage directly. Its third bullet states a secure hanging and space-saving design, and then says the compact nesting design allows all four to store in the space of one. Each basket is stated at 5.5 inches in diameter with 5.5 inch high sides and a 7.5 inch wood handle, in 304 stainless steel.
Its own package figure supports that. Leooomap publishes 5.51 x 13.39 x 5.51 inches for the set of four, and the cross-section of that box is about the 5.5 inches one basket is stated to span. For a cabinet that is the whole argument: four baskets arriving in a box one basket wide is a different proposition from four baskets arriving side by side.
Eight Baskets With Nothing Said About Stacking
Patelai puts eight in the box, each stated at about 6 inches high and 5.5 inches in diameter on a wooden handle about 7.5 inches long, in 304 stainless steel with two integrated hooks per basket. It publishes 5.51 x 13.78 x 5.51 inches for the set and 3.12 lb for the whole lot, and the word nesting does not appear anywhere in the listing.
Lawei sits between them with three. Each is stated at 14.4 inches in total length with the handle, 4.5 inches in rim diameter, 5.2 inches in height and 3.94 inches at the base, in a solid one-piece design with a built-in hook. The listing never mentions stacking either, and its published package figure is the odd one on this page.
The Figures That Do Not Add Up
The Package Figure Lawei Cannot Fit
Lawei publishes a package size of 4.72 x 4.72 x 5.4 inches for a set of three strainers it states at 14.4 inches in total length each. A box published as 4.72 x 4.72 x 5.4 inches cannot hold one object stated at 14.4 inches, let alone three, so one of those two numbers describes something other than what the listing says it does.
We have printed both and resolved neither, because the listing offers no basis to choose. What matters for a cabinet is that the 14.4 inches sits in the maker’s own sentence, with the rim, height and base figures beside it, while the 5.4 inches sits in a field with no sentence explaining it. We have planned around 14.4 inches.
Helen’s States One Size and Its Fields Say Another
Helen’s Asian Kitchen states in its own bullet that the strainer measures 6 x 6 x 7.5 inches, and its dimension fields read 5.51 x 5.51 x 13.39 inches. Those are not the same object: 7.5 inches and 13.39 inches cannot both be the overall length of one spider strainer. We have used the maker’s own sentence, as the house rule requires, and said so here.
The discrepancy matters more than usual on this page. A cabinet shelf has to take whichever figure is real, and 7.5 inches against 13.39 inches is the difference between a tool that lies flat on most shelves and one that does not. The listing is otherwise the most specific of the five on care: hand wash in warm, soapy water, and it hangs for storage.
What Each One Is, Beyond the Count
Four Stainless Tools and One Bamboo Tray
TIKUSAN is a different object from the other four and that is why it is here. It is a woven bamboo zaru basket stated at 8.3 inches, also given as 21cm, with fields of 8.3 x 8.3 x 1.2 inches and a published weight of 0.2 lb. It names no handle, no hook and no place to hang it, so it is a tray rather than a spider.
For a compact cabinet that shape is the point. A published 1.2 inches of field height is a tool that slides under something, where Leooomap, Patelai and Lawei all state baskets 5.2 inches high or more with handles of about 7.5 inches on top. TIKUSAN also publishes nothing at all about washing it, which on woven bamboo is the question a reader would most want answered.
Materials, Hooks and Who Says How to Clean It
Four of the five publish a hook and one does not. Leooomap names integrated hooks on a wire frame, Patelai two per basket, Lawei one at the end of the handle, and Helen’s one that rests on a pot rim. TIKUSAN names none. On a compact cabinet a hook is an alternative to a shelf, which is why four makers lead with it.
Cleaning is thinner. Only Helen’s Asian Kitchen publishes an instruction: hand wash in warm, soapy water. Leooomap uses the word washing once, and only to say four baskets let you work without constant washing between batches, which is not an instruction for washing the baskets. Patelai, Lawei and TIKUSAN publish no washing wording of any kind.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
One cabinet slot, four baskets. Leooomap, the only one of the five claiming its set nests, with all four stated to store in the space of one. Each 5.5 inches in diameter with 5.5 inch high sides and a 7.5 inch wood handle, in 304 stainless steel, at 1.71 lb for the set.
A shelf that takes almost nothing. TIKUSAN, a woven bamboo zaru stated at 8.3 inches, also given as 21cm, with fields of 8.3 x 8.3 x 1.2 inches at 0.2 lb. No handle, no hook, and no washing instruction published.
One tool, one hook, and care instructions. Helen’s Asian Kitchen, stated by the maker at 6 x 6 x 7.5 inches with a 6 inch basket and a bamboo handle, at 0.39 lb. Hand wash in warm, soapy water. Note the 5.51 x 5.51 x 13.39 inches in its fields.
Three at once without a set of eight. Lawei, three one-piece strainers stated at 14.4 inches in total length, 4.5 inches at the rim, 5.2 inches high and 3.94 inches at the base, at 1.43 lb. A built-in hook on each, and a package figure that does not match.
Cooking for a crowd in batches. Patelai, eight baskets stated at about 6 inches high and 5.5 inches in diameter on handles about 7.5 inches long, at 3.12 lb for the set. Two hooks per basket. The listing never says whether the eight stack.
What We Could Not Verify
Everything above comes from the five listings themselves. These are the things they do not say.
- Whether the eight Patelai baskets nest, since only Leooomap makes a nesting claim.
- How three Lawei strainers stated at 14.4 inches each fit a published package of 4.72 x 4.72 x 5.4 inches.
- Whether the Helen’s Asian Kitchen strainer is the 6 x 6 x 7.5 inches of its bullet or the 5.51 x 5.51 x 13.39 inches of its fields.
- What one basket weighs in any of the three multipacks, none of which splits its published figure.
- Any washing instruction from Leooomap, Patelai, Lawei or TIKUSAN.
- A basket height from TIKUSAN in the maker’s own words, and any handle or hook on it at all.
