How the Five Compare on the Numbers
Capacity is the first published figure that separates these five slow cookers. The Ninja PossibleCooker PLUS publishes 8.5 quarts, the largest here. The Crock-Pot and All-Clad each publish 7 quarts. The Instant Pot and HOUSNAT each publish 6 quarts. The Hamilton Beach publishes 4 quarts, the smallest. Published weights range from 8.3 pounds for the Hamilton Beach to 14.9 pounds for the Ninja, a difference of 6.6 pounds.
Published dimensions also vary. The Ninja is 12.64 inches wide, 18 inches deep, and 10.59 inches tall. The All-Clad publishes the largest depth at 19.9 inches. The Hamilton Beach publishes the smallest width at 9.06 inches and the largest height at 15.16 inches. These figures matter for counter space and cabinet clearance, though they do not describe cooking performance.
The table does not tell you how evenly any of these models heats, how long they take to reach temperature, or how durable their finishes are. Those are performance questions, and no one at Lush has used these machines. The table also leaves out wattage, cord length, and warranty, none of which the manufacturers publish on this fact sheet.
Capacity and Serving Claims
What the quart figures mean
The Ninja publishes 8.5 quarts and states it can make chili for up to 20 people, 9 pounds of spaghetti and meatballs, or enough pulled pork for 30 sliders. The Crock-Pot publishes 7 quarts and states it serves 9 or more people or fits a 7-pound roast. The All-Clad publishes 7 quarts but does not state a serving count. The Instant Pot publishes 6 quarts and states it serves up to 6.
The HOUSNAT publishes 6 quarts and states it serves 6 to 8 people. The Hamilton Beach publishes 4 quarts and states it serves 4 plus people, and that the stoneware crock will hold a 4-pound chicken or a 2-pound roast. These serving claims are the manufacturer’s own, and they assume a full pot. A half-full 8.5-quart cooker does not serve 20.
Matching capacity to your cooking
If you regularly cook for a large household or batch cook for the week, the published capacities of 7 to 8.5 quarts are the relevant range. The Ninja, Crock-Pot, and All-Clad all publish capacities in that band. The Ninja is the only one that publishes a specific party-size claim, up to 20 people for chili.
For two to four people, the 4-quart Hamilton Beach is the smallest published option. The 6-quart Instant Pot and HOUSNAT sit in the middle. A 6-quart cooker gives you room for leftovers without taking up as much counter space as a 7- or 8.5-quart model, though published footprints vary by model rather than by capacity alone.
Functions and Controls
Published cooking modes
The Ninja publishes 6 cooking functions: slow cook, sear and sauté, keep warm, sous vide, braise, and proof. The Instant Pot publishes 7 functions: pressure cook, slow cook, sauté, steam, rice, yogurt, and keep warm. The HOUSNAT publishes 10 appliances in 1, including slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, steamer, sauté pan, roaster, bread baker, warmer, and multigrain cooker.
The All-Clad publishes 4 preset modes: three slow cooking modes (low, high, and high/low) plus an automatic keep warm function that it states holds food hot for six hours. The Crock-Pot publishes high and low slow cooking settings plus a warm function. The Hamilton Beach publishes 15 programmable options that mix warm, low, or high heat with 2, 4, 6, 8, or 10 hours of cooking time.
Timers and delay starts
The HOUSNAT is the only model here that publishes a 24-hour delay start. The Hamilton Beach publishes programmable cooking times but no delay start. The All-Clad publishes an LCD screen that displays cooking mode and time. The Ninja, Instant Pot, and Crock-Pot do not publish a delay start on this fact sheet.
The Instant Pot publishes 13 one-touch smart programs and an easy-release steam switch. The HOUSNAT publishes adjustable time and temperature, so you are not locked into presets. The Crock-Pot publishes a set-it-and-forget-it feature. These control differences are published capabilities, not measures of how well any model cooks.
