How the Five Compare on the Numbers
Every one of these listings calls itself a starter kit and no two of them mean the same thing by it. One ships five bags, two rolls, an air hose and two spare gaskets. One ships three rigid containers and no rolls at all. One ships thirty reusable bags and eight clips. One ships ten lids for mason jars and nothing that looks like a bag. And one ships a roll, ten pre-cut bags and a set of external accessories.
Because the contents differ that much, the machines do too. The weights on this page run from 0.63 lb to 6.5 lb, which is the difference between a handheld unit that charges over a cable and a countertop machine with a built-in cutter and roll storage. Read the contents list first and the suction figure second.
What none of these publishes is how long the supplied bags last. Five pre-cut bags is a weekend and thirty is a season, and no listing says how many seals a roll of a given length yields. Nor does any listing except Gasbye publish a spare part, so on four of these five the kit is what you get and the consumables are a separate purchase you discover later.
The Kit That Includes Wear Parts
Two Spare Gaskets, Before Anything Fails
Gasbye is the only listing in this pool that puts a wear part in the box. Its starter kit bullet itemizes the sealer, 5 pre-cut 8 by 12 in bags, two 11 in by 10 ft rolls, 2 replacement foam gaskets and an external air suction hose. A foam gasket is the part that hardens and stops sealing, and no other listing here anticipates that at all.
It goes further in a separate bullet, publishing the replacement part numbers for the foam gasket, the removable drip tray and the built-in cutter, and noting that brands offering separate replacement parts are rare. Whether or not that is true of the whole market, it is true of this pool: nothing else here publishes a part number for anything.
What You Give Up for That
It is also the heaviest machine on this page at 6.5 lb, with published figures of 15.7 in long by 7.8 in wide by 4.7 in high, so this is a countertop appliance rather than something that lives in a drawer. It publishes 95 kPa of suction, a double heat seal it ties to sous vide, a pulse mode and five years of quality coverage.
The one thing its kit does not include is a container. Its own bullet says a compatible food container is designed for the model and is specifically not included in the package, which is honest and is still a gap on a page about what arrives in the box.
Bags, Rolls or Neither
A Roll and Ten Bags, on a Countertop Machine
Bonsenkitchen ships the most usable mix of consumables: one roll at 11 in by 20 ft plus 10 pre-cut bags at 8 in by 12 in, and external vacuum accessories. Twenty feet is double the length of either Gasbye roll, and the pre-cut bags cover the first few uses before you start cutting your own.
The machine behind it publishes 135 W and four upgraded vacuum pumps, and a throughput figure nothing else here gives: up to 50 bags in 20 minutes. It also publishes a built-in cutter, a roll storage slot and a bag clamp that holds the bag opening to stop wrinkling when the lid closes, which is the detail that wastes bags on cheaper machines. It publishes 5.82 lb.
Thirty Reusable Bags and Eight Clips
Synvox takes the opposite approach and ships no roll at all: its kit bullet itemizes the sealer, 30 reusable bags, 8 sealing clips, a USB charging cable and a manual, with a 12 month warranty. Thirty bags is the largest count on this page, and reusable bags change the economics completely because there is no roll to run out of.
It also publishes the liquid detail that matters on a handheld unit: a 20 ml detachable water tank, which its own bullet says is double the 10 ml capacity found in most vacuum sealers. It publishes 1.2 lb and 11.02 by 7.28 by 3.94 in, so it is a machine you can put away.
Containers and Jars Instead of Bags
Three Rigid Containers in the Box
FEPPO is the only kit here built around containers rather than bags. Its container bullet publishes three BPA free containers at 900 ml, 1300 ml and 2000 ml, given also as 31.67 oz, 45.75 oz and 70.39 oz, and says they will not collapse under pressure and are freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe with the lids excluded. Ten reusable reinforced bags come with them.
The machine is the lightest thing on this page at 0.63 lb, with 65 kPa of suction, a liquid sensing probe with an automatic shut off to protect the motor, a 1800 mAh battery charging over Type C, a travel lock activated by a three second long press so it cannot switch itself on in a drawer, and a ten minute auto sleep.
Ten Lids and No Bags at All
Plateful is a different product wearing the same category name. It seals mason jars rather than bags, and its title publishes 10 lids included while its own contents bullet says only that the kit includes vacuum seal lids and the accessories needed to start preserving, without repeating the count. The count is in the title and nowhere else.
What it does publish precisely is fit: it works with both regular mouth jars at 2.68 in and wide mouth jars at 3.27 in, which is the only jar measurement in this pool. It is cordless with a built in rechargeable battery, publishes 1 lb and 4.3 by 4.3 by 4.8 in, and it publishes no suction figure.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
The household that wants the wear parts up front. Gasbye is the only kit here with spare gaskets in the box, itemizing 5 pre-cut 8 by 12 in bags, two 11 in by 10 ft rolls, 2 replacement foam gaskets and an air hose, plus 95 kPa, a double heat seal and five years of coverage. At 6.5 lb it stays on the counter.
The household sealing in batches. Bonsenkitchen ships a 20 ft roll and 10 pre-cut bags, and publishes 135 W, four pumps and up to 50 bags in 20 minutes. A bag clamp holds the opening flat so the lid does not seal a wrinkle, and it publishes 5.82 lb.
The household that would rather not buy rolls. Synvox ships 30 reusable bags and 8 sealing clips with no roll at all, plus a 20 ml detachable water tank it says is double what most sealers hold. It publishes 1.2 lb, USB charging and a 12 month warranty.
The household sealing soups and sauces. FEPPO ships three rigid containers at 900 ml, 1300 ml and 2000 ml plus 10 reusable bags, with a liquid sensing probe that shuts the motor off. At 0.63 lb with 65 kPa and a travel lock, it is the one kit you can put in luggage.
The household preserving in jars. Plateful seals mason jars rather than bags, publishing a fit for both regular 2.68 in and wide mouth 3.27 in jars, and 10 lids in its title. Cordless and rechargeable at 1 lb, with no suction figure published.
What We Could Not Verify
Each of these was asked of the listings and answered by none of them.
- How many seals a roll of a given length actually yields, which no listing states.
- A suction figure for Bonsenkitchen, Synvox or Plateful.
- Whether the Plateful kit really contains 10 lids, since only the title gives a count.
- A replacement part for anything except the three Gasbye components.
- Whether the reusable bags from Synvox and FEPPO can be resealed a stated number of times.
- What the Bonsenkitchen external vacuum accessories and the Plateful accessories actually are.
