How the Five Compare on the Numbers
A drawer is a flat space, and a cold brew filter is either a bag or a cylinder. The three bags here publish 0.04, 0.1 and 0.5 inches of thickness. The two steel filters publish bodies 3.15 and 8.4 inches deep, and neither of those figures gets smaller when the coffee is out of it.
The flat sizes are not the constraint on any of them. HRX Package publishes 6 by 10 inches, BIMYJ 12.8 by 12.8 and bellamei 22 by 26, all of which fold. HAVORNYX publishes 8.27 inches across and CHAYUFUN 3.2, and both of those are round bodies that hold their shape.
What the table cannot tell you is how fine any of these actually is. Only bellamei publishes a figure, at 250 micron, and it is a beer bag rather than a coffee filter. The three listings sold for coffee say fine mesh, fine stainless steel mesh and ultra fine mesh, and none of the three attaches a number to it.
The Three That Fold
Four Hundredths of an Inch, Fifty Times Over
HRX Package publishes the smallest thickness figure here at 0.04 inches, on a pack of 50 disposable non woven bags of 6 by 10 inches, given also as 15 by 25 cm. It states no seams at the bottom and double stitches at the sides, holding up to agitation, shaking or boiling, and a cotton drawstring.
A stack of 50 flat bags is the least a drawer can be asked to hold, and it is also the only purchase here that runs out. The listing states each bag holds 2 to 3 cups of grind and suits a 64 ounce mason jar or a 1 gallon pitcher, and publishes 0.26 pounds for the pack.
Cotton, and a Bag Built for Beer
BIMYJ publishes 12.8 by 12.8 inches of organic cotton at 0.1 inches thick and 0.1 pounds, which is the lightest purchase of these five. It includes two 304 stainless steel stirring spoons, the only extra in a box anywhere on this page, and states a grit free brew from a secure drawstring closure.
bellamei is the largest bag here at 22 by 26 inches and the only one with a published mesh, at 250 micron of tightly woven nylon. It is sold for brewing in a bag rather than for coffee, states a fit for kettles up to 17 inches across, and publishes 0.31 pounds. Its 0.5 inch field is the largest of the three bag figures.
The Two That Keep Their Shape
Three Inches Deep, or Eight and a Half
HAVORNYX publishes a basket 8.27 inches across and 3.15 inches deep in 304 stainless steel, with a flat bottom stated to keep the jar steady while it steeps. CHAYUFUN publishes a cylinder 3.2 inches across and 8.4 inches long with a silicone seal. Both are made for a 64 ounce wide mouth mason jar.
Those two shapes use a drawer completely differently. A 3.15 inch deep basket lies in a drawer like a sieve. An 8.4 inch cylinder is a tube that has to lie on its side across the drawer, and the listing publishes only the external figures, so how much of the 8.4 inches is mesh is unstated.
What the Steel Buys You
Both steel filters publish a dishwasher. HAVORNYX states you remove the filter, empty the grounds and rinse it or put it in the machine, on a smooth stainless surface stated to reduce buildup on the mesh. CHAYUFUN states it can be put into the dishwasher for cleaning. Neither of the cotton bags mentions a machine.
What the steel does not buy you is a figure. Neither filter publishes a mesh size, a hole count or an aperture, so the words fine mesh and ultra fine mesh are doing the work that 250 micron does on the bellamei bag. HAVORNYX publishes 0.26 pounds and CHAYUFUN publishes no weight at all.
Packs, Vessels and What Runs Out
Fifty Bags, Two Bags, Two Filters
The unit of purchase differs on every pick here. HRX Package supplies 50 disposable bags. BIMYJ and bellamei each supply two reusable bags. CHAYUFUN supplies two steel filters and HAVORNYX one. So a drawer holds a stack, a pair of cloths or one or two rigid objects, and those are four different storage problems.
Only the HRX pack has to be replaced. The two cotton and nylon bags state washing and reuse without a count, and the two steel filters state repeated daily use. Nobody on this fact sheet publishes a reuse life, so how long any of the four reusable purchases lasts is not a figure that exists here.
Every Steel Filter Fits the Same Jar
HAVORNYX and CHAYUFUN both state a 64 ounce wide mouth mason jar and nothing else, so each is a filter for one vessel. HRX Package states 64 ounce mason jars or a 1 gallon pitcher. BIMYJ states pitchers and mason jar systems without a size. bellamei states kettles up to 17 inches in diameter.
For a small drawer that matters twice over, because a filter cut for one jar is only useful while you own that jar. The bags have no such limit and that is their real advantage over the steel, rather than the thickness figure that puts them on this page in the first place.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
The drawer has almost no depth to give. HRX Package publishes 0.04 inches of thickness on 50 disposable non woven bags of 6 by 10 inches, each stated to hold 2 to 3 cups of grind for a 64 ounce jar or a 1 gallon pitcher.
You want cotton and no waste. BIMYJ publishes 12.8 by 12.8 inches of organic cotton at 0.1 inches and 0.1 pounds, with a secure drawstring, washable reuse, and two 304 stainless steel stirring spoons in the box.
You brew in something bigger than a jar. bellamei publishes a 22 by 26 inch nylon bag at 250 micron with a tear resistant drawstring and a lock, stated to fit kettles up to 17 inches across, at 0.31 pounds.
The filter should sit flat in the jar. HAVORNYX publishes a 304 stainless basket 8.27 inches across and 3.15 deep with a flat bottom for stability, dishwasher permission, and 0.26 pounds.
You want two filters and a seal. CHAYUFUN publishes two food grade 304 stainless filters at 3.2 by 8.4 inches with silicone seals for a 64 ounce wide mouth mason jar, cleared for a dishwasher.
What We Could Not Verify
Every figure above is a maker’s own published number or sentence, taken from the listing itself. These are the things we went looking for across all sixteen listings on this fact sheet and could not find.
- A mesh or micron figure from any filter sold for coffee, on a page where three say only fine mesh.
- A reuse life from any of the four reusable purchases here.
- A weight from CHAYUFUN, the one pick here that publishes none.
- How much of the CHAYUFUN 8.4 inch body is mesh rather than rim and seal.
- A capacity in grounds from HAVORNYX, CHAYUFUN or BIMYJ, three of these five.
- A washing instruction for the two cloth bags beyond the word washable.
