Best Cabinet Drawer Slides and the Parts Around Them

The deciding specification is the load rating, and only three of these five publish one at all.

Each pick in detail

What the listing says for it, and against it.
1 Best for replacing a slide that failed

Liberty D68818C-W-TS 18-Inch Bottom Mount Drawer Sli...

An 18 inch bottom mount slide in stamped steel with a white epoxy finish, self closing, rated to 50 lbs for normal duty, with 3/4 extension and hardware included.

  • For it
  • The only actual drawer slide on this page, at a named 18 inch length
  • Self closing, which no other product here offers
  • Publishes a load rating, 50 lbs for normal duty use
  • Mounting hardware and detailed instructions included
  • Against it
  • 3/4 extension, so the back quarter of the drawer stays in the cabinet
  • Never says whether the 50 lb figure is per slide or per drawer
  • Bottom mount, so the cabinet needs to be square and the drawer sized to suit
2 Best for a drawer that will hold pans

DPZM 2Pack Expandable Pull Out Cabinet Organizer

Two stainless baskets on side mounted industrial ball bearing slides with a published load capacity up to 110 lb, adjustable from 17.1 to 28 inches wide.

  • For it
  • The highest published load figure here, up to 110 lb
  • An industrial grade ball bearing system, stated quiet and smooth
  • A width range of 17.1 to 28 inches in its size field and features, and 28.1 in its title
  • Side mounting, which its listing argues is more stable than bottom mounting
  • Against it
  • Never states whether the slides are full or partial extension
  • Side mounting means drilling into the cabinet sides
  • Side rails take usable width out of the basket
3 Best for a cabinet you cannot drill

Pull out Cabinet Organizer

Bottom mounted rails fixed with an adhesive film plus riser pads for framed cabinets up to 0.8 inches of edge height, on a full extension three rail system.

  • For it
  • No drilling, using an adhesive film and riser pads for framed cabinets
  • The only endurance claim in this category, over 40,000 cycles
  • Full extension on a three rail system, with the glides under the basket
  • States its framed cabinet limit honestly, edge heights up to 0.8 inches
  • Against it
  • Its feature text gives a different width range from its title and size field
  • Publishes no load rating at all, only a cycle count
  • Never says what load those 40,000 cycles were run at
4 Best for a track that is sagging

Prime-Line Drawer Track Back Plate

A pair of white plastic back plates, left and right, with a fastener, made for 3/8 by 1 inch drawer tracks and rated to support up to 75 lbs per pair.

  • For it
  • The only product here that repairs a slide rather than replacing it
  • The only listing that says whether its load figure is per pair, at 75 lbs
  • Left and right plates plus a mounting fastener in one pack
  • Publishes the exact track size it fits, 3/8 by 1 inch
  • Against it
  • Plastic, where everything else here is steel
  • Fixes alignment and support, not a broken or worn track
  • Requires you to measure your existing hardware before ordering
5 Best for a drawer that slides too far

Zyghjort 24 Pcs Metal Drawer Stops

Twenty four drawer stops in 304 stainless, each 0.75 by 0.69 by 0.05 inches, hammered into the slide rail to stop a drawer over sliding at either end.

  • For it
  • Twenty four stops in one pack, enough for a whole run of drawers
  • 304 stainless, so they will not corrode inside a rail
  • Publishes the size of each stop, 0.75 by 0.69 by 0.05 inches
  • Installed with a hammer, no screws or drilling
  • Against it
  • Publishes no weight at all
  • Solves over sliding only, and does nothing about a worn slide
  • For wooden drawers, and says nothing about metal rails specifically

Our verdict

Liberty is the only actual drawer slide here, 18 inches, bottom mount, self closing, rated to 50 lbs with 3/4 extension. DPZM publishes the highest load figure at 110 lb on side mounted ball bearing slides. Kitstorack avoids drilling and claims over 40,000 cycles but no load rating, and its listing gives two different width ranges. PRIME-LINE repairs a sagging track at 75 lbs per pair.

“A cycle count with no load attached compares to nothing.”

Lush Editorial Team

What separates these five

Load rating DPZM 110 lb, PRIME-LINE 75 lb per pair, Liberty 50 lb. Kitstorack and Zyghjort publish none.
Extension Liberty 3/4, Kitstorack full on three rails. DPZM never says.
Mounting Bottom mount screws, side mount screws, and one that uses adhesive film and riser pads.
Durability Only Kitstorack claims a figure, over 40,000 cycles, without saying at what load.
What arrives One slide at 1.17 lb, two baskets near 15 lb, a pair of plates at 0.15 lb, and 24 stops.

How we chose

Priorities, not a computed score. The inputs are published specifications, so we rank by what matters most and say how much.

  1. 30% A published load ratingIt is the figure that decides whether a drawer of pans will keep moving, and two of five omit it.
  2. 25% Knowing what the product isThis search term mixes a drawer slide with baskets and repair hardware, so identification comes first.
  3. 20% Mounting methodBottom, side and adhesive mounting have different demands on the cabinet, and only one avoids drilling.
  4. 15% Sizes published consistentlyOne listing here publishes two different width ranges for the same basket.
  5. 10% Extension and durabilityThree quarter extension leaves the back of the drawer hidden, and only one product claims a cycle life.

How the Five Compare on the Numbers

This search term returns one actual drawer slide. The rest of the category is pull out baskets that arrive with slides already attached, plus small hardware that repairs or limits slides you already own. That is worth saying plainly, because someone replacing a broken slide and someone adding a pull out shelf to a cabinet are buying two different things from the same page.

Six listings were left off. One is a stainless drawer front panel in 16 gauge steel, a flat cabinet face with nothing to do with sliding. Two repeat a pick in another size, a 12 inch Liberty slide and a second PRIME-LINE bracket. Three are pull out baskets, and two of those publish neither a load rating nor a weight, though one does give the most complete set of cabinet fit requirements here, down to a minimum opening.

What the table cannot tell you is whether a load rating is per slide or per pair, and the listings are inconsistent about it. PRIME-LINE says 75 lbs per pair and is the only one that specifies. Liberty says up to 50 lbs without saying whether that is one slide or a drawer. The PRIME-LINE size here is its own 3/8 by 1 inch, because its dimension fields read as centimeters in an inch field.

One Slide, Two Repair Parts, Two Baskets

The only actual drawer slide here

Liberty is the product this search term is asking for: an 18 inch bottom mount slide in stamped steel with a white epoxy finish, self closing, rated for normal duty at up to 50 lbs, with 3/4 extension and mounting hardware and instructions in the box. At 1.17 lb it is a piece of hardware rather than a fitting.

The two specifications that matter on it are the ones people miss. Bottom mount means the slide sits under the drawer box rather than beside it, so the drawer must be narrower than the opening by the right amount and the cabinet needs a rear support. And 3/4 extension means the back quarter of the drawer stays inside the cabinet when it is fully open.

The baskets bring their own slides

Kitstorack and DPZM are wire baskets that convert a cabinet shelf into a pull out drawer, and each has a completely different slide arrangement. Kitstorack puts three rails beneath the basket, claims full extension, and states over 40,000 cycles of endurance, which is the only durability figure anywhere in this category.

DPZM mounts at the sides instead, on what it calls an industrial grade ball bearing system, and publishes a load bearing capacity up to 110 lb. Side mounting takes width from the basket and gives you a stiffer assembly under load, while bottom mounting keeps the full cabinet width usable, which is exactly the trade Kitstorack makes in its own listing.

Load Ratings, Where Anyone States One

Fifty pounds, seventy five, and one hundred and ten

Three of these five publish a load figure and all three mean something different by it. Liberty’s 50 lbs is a slide rating for normal duty use. PRIME-LINE’s 75 lbs is a pair of plastic back plates supporting existing tracks, so it is a limit on a repair rather than on a drawer. DPZM’s 110 lb applies to a whole stainless basket on side mounted slides.

The useful comparison is Liberty against DPZM, and it lands where you would expect: a normal duty stamped steel slide carries less than a ball bearing assembly built for pots and pans. If you are loading a drawer with cast iron, the 50 lb figure is the one to check first, and nothing on this page rates higher than 110 lb.

Cycles instead of pounds

Kitstorack publishes no load rating at all and instead claims over 40,000 cycles. Those measure different things: a load rating tells you what will break the slide today, and a cycle count tells you how long it lasts at some unstated load. A cycle figure with no load attached to it cannot be compared with anything.

It is still the only endurance claim here, and on a pull out shelf that gets opened several times a day it is a fair thing to advertise. What Kitstorack does not do is say what was in the basket during those cycles, which is the difference between a specification and a number.

Mounting, and a Measurement Problem

Three ways to attach a slide

Liberty screws to the cabinet floor and the underside of the drawer, which is the traditional approach and needs the cabinet to be square. DPZM screws to the cabinet sides, which its listing says is more stable than bottom mounting. Kitstorack avoids drilling altogether, using an adhesive nano film plus riser pads for framed cabinets, and claims installation in seconds.

That no drilling claim comes with a limit Kitstorack states honestly: it suits framed cabinets with edge heights up to 0.8 inches. Beyond that the riser pads do not lift the basket clear of the frame. For a rental, or for anyone unwilling to put screws into cabinet sides, that is the only option on this page.

The Kitstorack listing gives two different widths

Kitstorack’s title says 12 to 20 inches, its size field says 21 inches deep by 12 to 20 inches wide, and its own feature text says 21 inches deep by 2.8 inches high and from 14 to 24 inches in width. Those are two different width ranges across three places in one listing, and there is no way to tell which is the product.

That matters more here than in most categories, because a pull out basket that does not span the cabinet is useless and cannot be adjusted afterwards. DPZM publishes 17.1 to 28 inches in its size field and its features and 17.1 to 28.1 in its title, which is close enough to read as a rounding, and is why the DPZM figure is the one this page compares against. Measure the cabinet and ask the seller before ordering either.

Which One Fits Your Kitchen

Replacing a slide that has failed. Liberty. An 18 inch bottom mount slide in stamped steel with a white epoxy finish, self closing, rated to 50 lbs for normal duty, with 3/4 extension and mounting hardware and instructions included, at 1.17 lb.

A drawer that will hold pans. DPZM. Two stainless baskets on side mounted industrial ball bearing slides with a published load capacity up to 110 lb, adjustable from 17.1 to 28 inches wide at 22.5 inches deep, a range its size field and its features agree on.

A cabinet you are not allowed to drill. Kitstorack. Bottom mounted rails fixed with an adhesive nano film plus riser pads for framed cabinets up to 0.8 inches of edge height, on a full extension three rail system rated over 40,000 cycles.

A track that is sagging rather than broken. PRIME-LINE. A pair of plastic back plates with a mounting fastener, made for 3/8 by 1 inch drawer tracks and rated to support up to 75 lbs per pair. The lightest of the four that publish a weight, at 0.15 lb.

A drawer that slides too far in or out. Zyghjort. Twenty four drawer stops in 304 stainless, each 0.75 by 0.69 by 0.05 inches, hammered into the slide rail to stop a drawer over sliding when closed and to limit how far back it can go.

What We Could Not Verify

Six things a buyer would reasonably ask that these five listings never answer.

  • Whether the Liberty 50 lb rating is per slide or per fitted drawer.
  • Which of the two width ranges in the Kitstorack listing is the real one.
  • Any load rating for the Kitstorack basket, which publishes cycles instead.
  • What load the Kitstorack 40,000 cycle figure was measured at.
  • Whether the DPZM slides are full or partial extension.
  • A published weight for the Zyghjort drawer stops.

Frequently asked questions

Which of these is an actual drawer slide?+

Only Liberty. It is an 18 inch bottom mount slide in stamped steel with a white epoxy finish, self closing, rated for normal duty at up to 50 lbs, with 3/4 extension and mounting hardware included. Everything else in this category is either a pull out basket that arrives with slides already attached, or small hardware that repairs or limits slides you already own.

How much weight can these carry?+

Three of the five publish a figure and they are not measuring the same thing. DPZM states a load bearing capacity up to 110 lb for a stainless basket on side mounted ball bearing slides. PRIME-LINE states 75 lbs per pair for plastic back plates supporting existing tracks. Liberty states up to 50 lbs for normal duty without saying whether that is per slide. Kitstorack publishes no load figure at all.

What does 3/4 extension mean in practice?+

It means the drawer stops before it comes fully out, leaving roughly the back quarter inside the cabinet. That is fine for cutlery and awkward for anything stored at the back, which is why full extension is the selling point on pull out baskets. Liberty is the only product here that states its extension type as 3/4, and Kitstorack is the only one that claims full extension, on a three rail system.

Can I fit a pull out basket without drilling?+

Kitstorack is the only one here that says so, using an adhesive nano film plus riser pads and claiming installation in seconds. It also states the limit: framed cabinets with edge heights up to 0.8 inches. DPZM is side mounted and its instructions involve screws. For a rental kitchen or anyone unwilling to put fixings into cabinet sides, that adhesive approach is the only option on this page.

Why does one listing give two different widths?+

There is no good answer, and it is a reason for caution. The Kitstorack title says 12 to 20 inches, its size field says 21 inches deep by 12 to 20 inches wide, and its feature text says 21 inches deep by 2.8 inches high and from 14 to 24 inches in width. That is two ranges across three places, and a basket that does not span the cabinet cannot be fixed afterwards, so measure the opening and confirm with the seller before ordering.

What are drawer stops for?+

They limit travel at both ends. The Zyghjort stops are hammered into the slide rail to prevent a drawer over sliding once it is closed, and to stop it going too far back into the cabinet. Each one is 304 stainless at 0.75 by 0.69 by 0.05 inches, and the pack holds 24, which is enough for a whole run of drawers. They repair behavior, not a worn slide.
