Best Adjustable Cake Rings You Can Put in the Oven

The deciding specification is whether the maker states the ring may go in an oven, because three of these sixteen say so and not one publishes a temperature.

Each Pick in Detail

1 Best for an oven permission on a square
Guowall Adjustable Square Cake Ring Stainless Steel ...

Guowall Adjustable Square Cake Ring Stainless Steel ...

Oven and dishwasher safe, adjusting from 6 by 6 inches to 11 by 11 at a 4 inch wall.

  • One of only two adjustable rings in this pool to publish the word oven: oven and dishwasher safe, stated outright
  • Publishes both ends of its adjustment in a sentence, 6 by 6 inches at the smallest and 11 by 11 at the largest, with a 4 inch wall
  • Its own bullet, its size field and its dimension fields agree with each other, which two of these five listings cannot manage
  • Publishes no temperature figure, so the oven permission has no ceiling attached to it
  • Publishes no material thickness, so how much steel makes up the 2.12 pounds is unstated

Guowall Rectangular Cake Ring Mold Stainless Steel H...

Guowall Rectangular Cake Ring Mold Stainless Steel H...

The same oven permission on a rectangle that reaches 18 by 14.2 inches.

  • Publishes the same oven and dishwasher permission as its square sibling, which almost nothing else in this pool will say
  • The widest published adjustment here, from 9.8 by 7.5 inches up to 18 by 14.2, at a 4 inch wall
  • Publishes 3.11 pounds, the most metal of these five, on steel stated as heavy duty and not easily deformed
  • Publishes three different starting lengths: 9.5 inches in its title, 10 inches in its size field and 9.8 inches in its own bullet
  • Publishes two maximum widths, 14 inches in the size field and 14.2 in the bullet

3 Best for a tall wall and a measured steel
Iwinna Cake Ring Extra high 7.87 Inch

Iwinna Cake Ring Extra high 7.87 Inch

A 7.87 inch wall on 0.4 mm steel, with an internal scale for height and diameter.

  • The only listing among these five to publish a material thickness, 0.4 mm of stainless steel
  • Publishes a 7.87 inch wall with a 6 to 12 inch diameter range, and states the adjustment holds without extra clamps
  • Publishes an internal scale showing the set height and diameter, with two handles for lifting it
  • Publishes heat resistant and never the word oven, so the permission the shape implies is not actually given
  • At 0.4 mm it is the only steel figure published anywhere in this pool, so there is nothing to compare it against

Cake Rings Mousse Mold Acetate Cake Collar Set - Adj...

Cake Rings Mousse Mold Acetate Cake Collar Set - Adj...

A 6 to 12 inch ring with a 394 inch acetate roll and no heat statement at all.

  • Publishes the acetate in full: 5.5 inches wide, 394 inches long and 125 micron thick, which is the only thickness figure for a collar in this pool
  • Publishes clear scales printed on the ring itself, so the diameter you set is readable
  • States the edges are smoothly finished with no sharp spots, and supplies stickers with the set
  • Publishes nothing about heat at all, on a product sold under the words cake ring
  • Publishes three different adjustment ranges across its title and two bullets, and a fourth figure in its dimension fields

Patelai Adjustable Cake Ring 6-12 Inch Stainless Ste...

Patelai Adjustable Cake Ring 6-12 Inch Stainless Ste...

A 6.25 to 12 inch ring at 3.2 inches high, with PET strips 4 inches wide.

  • Publishes its adjustment consistently, 6.25 to 12 inches in both the size field and the bullet, at a 3.2 inch height
  • Names the collar material, PET, rather than leaving it as acetate, and publishes 4 by 394 inches for the roll
  • Publishes a washing method rather than a permission: rinse under running water and let it air dry
  • Confines its heat claim to the steel and says nothing about whether the PET strips tolerate any of it
  • Publishes no temperature figure, no material thickness and no weight

Our Verdict

A cake ring is a baking mold, and only three of these sixteen listings will say it can go in an oven. Both Guowall rings publish oven and dishwasher safe. Iwinna publishes heat resistant and 0.4 mm steel with a 7.87 inch wall. DATANYA publishes a 5.5 by 394 inch acetate roll and nothing about heat. Patelai claims high temperature resistance for the steel and ships PET strips with it.

“Nine listings say heat resistant. None says how hot.”

What Separates These Five

Three listings say oven, two are one brand Both Guowall rings publish oven and dishwasher safe. wutfuooo publishes oven-safe on a set of fixed 3.1 inch rings. Every other listing in this pool says high temperature resistant, heat resistant, or nothing at all.
Not one temperature figure in sixteen listings Nine listings describe the steel as high temperature resistant or heat resistant. None states a figure, a rating or a maximum, on a tool whose job is holding batter at oven heat.
One listing publishes three diameters The DATANYA title says 6 to 12 inches. Its second bullet says 6.5 to 12. Its third says 6 to 12 again. Its dimension fields read 6.4 by 6.4 by 2.3 inches, which is a fourth figure for the same ring.
A heat claim for a plastic collar Urxirha states the stainless steel is corrosion resistant and then that the cake roll has good heat resistance. The sentence is cut off partway through a word and no figure follows it. Every other collar here is sold for chilling.
Only one listing measures its steel Iwinna publishes a material thickness of 0.4 mm. Nobody else in this pool publishes one, which leaves the weight as the only clue to how much metal is in the ring.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you bake in an adjustable cake ring?+

Three listings in this pool say so. Both Guowall rings publish oven and dishwasher safe in the same bullet, and wutfuooo publishes oven-safe, freezer-safe and dishwasher-safe on a set of fixed 3.1 inch rings. Iwinna publishes heat resistant without the word oven. DATANYA publishes nothing about heat. Patelai claims high temperature resistance for the steel and ships PET strips with it.

Why does none of them publish a temperature?+

Nobody in this pool explains it. Nine of the sixteen listings describe the steel as high temperature resistant or heat resistant. Not one states a figure, a rating or a maximum, and not one names a standard. The closest anyone comes to a material specification is Iwinna, which publishes 0.4 mm material thickness, and that is a dimension rather than a heat rating.

Is an acetate collar meant for the oven?+

The listings that ship one mostly avoid the question. DATANYA publishes a 5.5 by 394 inch acetate roll at 125 micron and says nothing about heat. Patelai names PET for its 4 by 394 inch strips and confines its temperature claim to the steel. Urxirha states the cake roll has good heat resistance in a sentence that stops partway through a word. A collar's published job is shaping a chilled dessert.

How tall a wall do these publish?+

Iwinna publishes 7.87 inches, which is the largest wall figure among these five. Both Guowall rings publish 4 inches. Patelai publishes 3.2 inches. DATANYA publishes 2.3 inches in its dimension fields and no wall height in words at all. Across the wider pool the figures run from 1.26 inches upward, so the wall is the specification that varies most and the one to check first.

What does 0.4 mm of steel mean in practice?+

Iwinna is the only listing that publishes a thickness, so there is nothing to compare it against. What can be compared is weight against size: Iwinna publishes 1.42 pounds for a 7.87 inch wall at 6 to 12 inches, the square Guowall 2.12 pounds for a 4 inch wall reaching 11 by 11, and the rectangular Guowall 3.11 pounds for a 4 inch wall reaching 18 by 14.2. More metal, more pounds.

Do the listings agree with themselves on size?+

Two of these five do not. DATANYA publishes a 6 to 12 inch range in its title, 6.5 to 12 in one bullet and 6 to 12 in another, with dimension fields of 6.4 by 6.4 by 2.3 inches. The rectangular Guowall publishes 9.5 by 7.5 by 4 inches in its title, a 10 inch start in its size field and 9.8 inches in its own bullet. Both also warn that the measurement is manual.

Specifications come from the manufacturers' own published listings. Lush Food & Drink may earn a commission if you buy through a link on this page, at no extra cost to you. How we research.

How the Five Compare on the Numbers

A cake ring is a mold you bake batter in, so the first question is whether the maker will say it can go in an oven. Three of the sixteen listings here say it plainly, and two of those three are the same brand. One says heat resistant and stops. Two ship a plastic collar with the ring and say nothing about heat at all.

Both Guowall listings publish oven and dishwasher safe. wutfuooo publishes oven-safe, freezer-safe and dishwasher-safe on a set of fixed 3.1 inch rings. Iwinna publishes dishwasher safe, food safe and heat resistant. DATANYA publishes nothing about heat. Patelai publishes high temperature resistance for the steel and names PET for the strips that come with it.

What the table cannot give you is a number. Nine of the sixteen listings describe their steel as high temperature resistant or heat resistant, and not one states a figure, a rating or a maximum. On a tool whose only hard job is to hold batter at oven temperature, that is the specification the whole category declines to publish.

Two Listings Say Oven, One Brand

The Same Bullet, Twice

The two Guowall listings are the only adjustable rings in this pool that use the word oven. Both publish the identical bullet: corrosion resistant, smooth surface and easy to clean, oven and dishwasher safe. The square one adjusts from 6 by 6 inches to 11 by 11 at a 4 inch wall. The rectangular one starts at 9.8 by 7.5 and reaches 18 by 14.2.

That the two listings share their wording is worth noticing rather than holding against them. The oven claim sits inside a cleaning bullet, not a materials bullet, which is where a maker puts a permission it is confident about. Neither publishes a temperature, so the claim is that the steel survives an oven and not that it survives any particular one.

Heat Resistant Is Not a Permission

Iwinna publishes the next best thing and stops short. Its extra high ring is stated as dishwasher safe, food safe and heat resistant, on stainless steel of 0.4 mm material thickness with a 7.87 inch wall and a diameter range of 6 to 12 inches. Heat resistant describes the metal. It does not say the ring may be baked in.

It is also the only pick here that publishes a material thickness, which is the figure that would actually tell you how the ring behaves hot. At 0.4 mm it is thin steel, and Iwinna publishes 1.42 pounds, the lightest of the three weights on this page. The other listings publish neither a thickness nor a rating.

The Plastic in the Box

A 394 Inch Roll With No Heat Figure

DATANYA and Patelai both sell the ring with a plastic collar, and that changes what the purchase is for. DATANYA publishes a roll of acetate 5.5 inches wide, 394 inches long and 125 micron thick, with a ring adjustable from 6 to 12 inches and a 2.3 inch wall in its dimension fields. It publishes nothing about heat anywhere.

Patelai publishes the same shape of purchase: a ring adjustable from 6.25 to 12 inches at a 3.2 inch height, with clear cake strips of 4 by 394 inches named as PET material. Its heat sentence covers the steel only, high temperature resistance, and the PET is described as non-toxic with no peculiar smell. An acetate collar is a chilled dessert tool.

One Listing Claims Heat Resistance for the Plastic

Urxirha, not picked here, goes further than either. Its bullet states the stainless steel is hard and corrosion resistant and then that the cake roll has good heat resistance, which is a heat claim for a food-grade PET collar. It publishes a 6 to 12 inch adjustment, the same range three of the picks here give, so the heat sentence is the only thing that sets it apart.

No figure accompanies it, and the sentence is cut off in the listing partway through the word. So the one place in this pool where a maker claims heat resistance for the plastic is also a sentence that does not finish. This page reports it and does not use it, because a collar with an unstated ceiling is not a specification.

Ranges That Disagree With Themselves

Three Diameters in One Listing

DATANYA publishes three different adjustment ranges for one ring. Its title says adjustable 6 to 12 inches. Its second bullet says the handle adjusts the size from 6.5 to 12 inch. Its third bullet says choose the cake size between diameter of 6 to 12 inches. The lower bound moves by half an inch between one bullet and the next.

Half an inch matters on a ring sold as a substitute for a 6 inch tin. Its size field publishes a cake ring of 6 to 12 inches and its dimension fields read 6.4 by 6.4 by 2.3 inches, which is a fourth figure for the same object. Patelai is tidier and publishes 6.25 to 12 inches in both its size field and its bullet.

Nine Point Eight, Nine Point Five, or Ten

The rectangular Guowall ring has the same problem in three places. Its title says 9.5 by 7.5 by 4 inch. Its size field says 10 to 18 by 7.5 to 14 by 4 in. Its own bullet says the product size is 9.8 by 7.5 by 4 inch with a maximum of 18 by 14.2 by 4. Three starting lengths and two maximum widths, in one listing.

This page uses the bullet, because it is the maker writing the measurement out in a sentence and it is the one that also gives a maximum. The square Guowall listing does the same thing without contradicting itself: 6 by 6 by 4 inch, reaching 11 by 11 by 4. Both add a warning that the measurement is manual and to allow a slight difference.

Which One Fits Your Kitchen

You are baking batter in the ring. The square Guowall ring publishes oven and dishwasher safe, adjusts from 6 by 6 inches to 11 by 11 at a 4 inch wall, and publishes 2.12 pounds. It is one of two adjustable rings here with an oven permission.

You want a tray bake or a tiramisu. The rectangular Guowall ring publishes the same oven and dishwasher permission, starts at 9.8 by 7.5 inches and reaches 18 by 14.2 at a 4 inch wall, and publishes 3.11 pounds.

You build tall layer cakes. Iwinna publishes a 7.87 inch wall, a 6 to 12 inch diameter range, 0.4 mm steel with an internal scale for height and diameter, and 1.42 pounds. It publishes heat resistant rather than oven safe.

You are making mousse rather than cake. DATANYA publishes a 6 to 12 inch ring with a 5.5 by 394 inch acetate roll at 125 micron, plus stickers and scales printed on the ring. It publishes nothing about heat at all.

You want the collar and a shorter wall. Patelai publishes a 6.25 to 12 inch ring at a 3.2 inch height with 4 by 394 inch PET strips, and high temperature resistance claimed for the steel only.

What We Could Not Verify

Every figure above is a manufacturer’s own published number or sentence. These are the things we went looking for across all sixteen listings and did not find.

  • A temperature figure from any of the sixteen listings, so no ring here states what heat it will take.
  • An oven statement from Iwinna, DATANYA or Patelai.
  • Any heat statement at all for the PET and acetate collars, beyond the Urxirha sentence that stops partway through a word.
  • A weight for DATANYA or Patelai.
  • Which of the three DATANYA adjustment ranges is the ring: 6 to 12, 6.5 to 12, or 6 to 12 again.
  • A material thickness from any listing but Iwinna, which publishes 0.4 mm.
