How the Five Compare on the Numbers
In a small freezer there is no spare counter beside the door and no room to hold a tray over a bowl and wrench it. The ice has to come out where the bin is, and that makes the release mechanism the specification worth ranking by. These five use five different ones, which is unusual in a pool this size and makes the comparison unusually clean.
GORILLA GRIP twists, with soft touch grips on the tray. OBreezify uses easy release levers on stainless steel trays. QUELIEN presses, squeezing cubes out through the lid. Brigii builds release prongs into the lid so you flip the tray onto the bin and press down. DOQAUS has a flexible silicone bottom and asks you to push each cube up from underneath.
Two things the table cannot settle. None of the five publishes how much force any release takes, so a lever and a twist cannot be compared on effort, only on the motion they ask for. And only two publish a cube size, at 1 inch and at 2.5 by 2.5 centimeters, so a cube count on its own does not tell you how much water a batch holds or how long a cube lasts in a glass.
Five Ways to Get the Ice Out
The two that need no room
Brigii and QUELIEN both move the work into the lid, which is what a cramped freezer wants. Brigii states that the dustproof lid has built in release prongs: you flip the frozen tray onto the storage bin and press down, and the cubes drop. QUELIEN states a press type tray with a waterproof platform in the lid, and says the ice can be squeezed out very easily into the container.
Neither motion needs clearance beside the freezer, because the tray is already sitting on the bin when you press. Brigii pairs that with a hybrid build, a rigid plastic frame for stacking and a flexible silicone bottom, and publishes 9.05 by 5.51 by 3.94 inches in its own words with 1 inch cubes. QUELIEN publishes a cube at 2.5 by 2.5 centimeters and 64 of them, which is the largest count on this page.
Twisting, levering and pushing
GORILLA GRIP is the traditional answer, with soft touch grips on the tray so it can be twisted without sticking or struggling. That needs two hands and somewhere to hold the tray, and in exchange it is the only pick here that publishes a six piece set: one bin, two trays with lids and an ice scoop, with the trays nesting on top of the bin to save freezer space.
OBreezify uses levers on 304 stainless steel trays of 18 slots each, which is a mechanism from a commercial kitchen rather than a domestic one. DOQAUS takes the opposite route with no mechanism at all: four silicone trays with flexible bottoms that you push each cube out of from below. That is the slowest method here and the one least likely to break.
How Much Freezer Each One Takes
The published sizes
DOQAUS publishes the smallest footprint on this page and publishes it twice, as 8.2 by 4.5 by 3.6 inches in its own words and 4.49 by 8.19 by 3.58 inches in its fields, which agree. At 0.66 pounds it is also the lightest, and it is four trays rather than two, so the same freezer space does more work.
Brigii publishes 9.05 by 5.51 by 3.94 inches and its fields read 5.52 by 9.05 by 4.72 inches, close but not identical on the third figure. GORILLA GRIP publishes only fields, at 6.6 by 10.7 by 4.3 inches. OBreezify publishes 7.87 by 13.78 by 5.91 inches, which is a bucket and two steel trays, and at 3.48 pounds it is more than twice the weight of anything else here.
Stacking, and what stacks on what
Four of the five say something about stacking and they mean slightly different things. GORILLA GRIP says the trays nest on top of the bin, so the stack is tray plus tray plus bin. DOQAUS says the trays stack neatly to save vertical space and names compact apartment freezers and RV refrigerators. QUELIEN says the trays can be stacked and stored.
Brigii is the most specific about why it works: the rigid plastic frame holds its shape for secure stacking while the silicone bottom flexes for release. That is the clearest explanation in this pool of how a tray can be both stackable and soft. OBreezify says nothing about stacking at all, which on a steel bucket set is not surprising.
Cleaning, Odors and What the Ice Tastes Like
Where the dishwasher is cleared
Two of the five clear it and one rules it out. DOQAUS is the most complete, saying the entire ice bucket kit set is top rack dishwasher safe, which covers four trays, the lids and the bin. GORILLA GRIP says the tray is dishwasher safe and stain resistant. QUELIEN says in capitals not to use dishwasher cleaning and to rinse before using instead, which is the only prohibition here.
Brigii and OBreezify publish no cleaning route in either direction. For a small freezer that matters more than it might, because trays in a tight freezer pick up whatever is open in there, and a set you can run through a machine gets cleaned more often than one you cannot. QUELIEN is also the only pick to publish a temperature, at -4 to 140 F.
The odor claims, and what backs them
Four of the five raise odor and one of them qualifies itself. QUELIEN states that the airtight lid means ice does not absorb odor. DOQAUS states that the trays resist absorbing freezer odors, and then says in a bracket that its lids allow airflow and are not airtight, which is an unusually candid thing to publish. OBreezify states no odor and credits 304 stainless steel. GORILLA GRIP states stain resistant rather than odor resistant, which is a different claim.
None of the four publishes anything measurable behind it, and Brigii does not raise the subject at all despite publishing an airtight dustproof lid. What can be said is that the two listings crediting a sealed lid are the two that press the ice out through that lid, so the seal is doing two jobs on both of them.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
You have no room to twist anything. Brigii builds release prongs into the lid, so you flip the tray onto the bin and press. It publishes 9.05 by 5.51 by 3.94 inches, 56 cubes at 28 per tray, 1 inch cubes and a rigid frame with a silicone bottom.
You want the most cubes per batch. QUELIEN states 64 cubes at 2.5 by 2.5 centimeters each, pressed out through an airtight lid with a waterproof platform, at 1.83 pounds, rated -4 to 140 F. It publishes no tray count and rules the dishwasher out.
Your freezer is genuinely tiny. DOQAUS publishes 8.2 by 4.5 by 3.6 inches and 0.66 pounds, four silicone trays with lift tabs, a bin and a scoop, and the only full set clearance for a top rack dishwasher. Its lids are stated not to be airtight.
You prefer the motion you know. GORILLA GRIP twists, with soft touch grips, and supplies six pieces: a bin, two trays with lids and an ice scoop, with the trays nesting on the bin. It publishes 56 cubes and dishwasher safe.
You want steel and a lever. OBreezify uses easy release levers on two 304 stainless steel trays of 18 slots, with a steel bucket, a scoop and a tong. At 3.48 pounds and 7.87 by 13.78 by 5.91 inches it is the largest commitment here.
What We Could Not Verify
These are the figures a small freezer would want and the listings do not give.
- How much force any of the five release mechanisms takes, so a lever and a twist cannot be compared.
- Any cube size for DOQAUS, GORILLA GRIP or OBreezify.
- Any cube count for DOQAUS, which publishes four trays and no total.
- The tray count for QUELIEN, which publishes 64 cubes without saying across how many trays.
- Any cleaning route from Brigii or OBreezify, the two that say nothing either way.
- Any figure behind the four odor claims, and any odor statement at all from Brigii.
