Can an air fryer basket go in the dishwasher?

For some air fryers, yes: the maker states that the basket and crisper plate are dishwasher safe. For others, the maker publishes nothing about dishwasher cleaning, so the safe answer is to wash by hand until the maker says otherwise.

The distinction matters because a basket is often coated, and the coating is what a dishwasher cycle acts on. The figures and claims below come from the makers of the five picks in our Best Smart Air Fryers for Cooking to Temperature guide, plus the portable dishwasher picks in our Best Portable Dishwashers for Countertops and Rentals guide for the machine side of the question.

Makers who state the basket is dishwasher safe

Cosori publishes an explicit dishwasher claim for the TurboBlaze Air Fryer, a 6-quart model. The maker states that the nonstick, ceramic coated cooking basket and crisper plate are dishwasher safe, and describes the coating as PFAS-free. That is the clearest statement in the guide: both parts that touch food are named, not just one.

Typhur takes a narrower approach with the Sync Air Fryer Oven. The maker lists an air fryer basket, roasting pan, wire rack, crumb tray and wireless probe in the box, then states that select parts are dishwasher safe. It does not name which parts in that sentence, so the basket is not confirmed individually. The oven has a 27 QT capacity and a 2400 RPM fan.

Ninja splits the claim on the DZ550 Foodi 10 Quart DualZone Smart XL. The maker states the crisper plates are dishwasher safe and describes the nonstick cooking surface as 100% PFAS free. The two 5 Quart Baskets are listed in the box contents, but the dishwasher statement covers the crisper plates, not the baskets themselves.

Makers who publish nothing about the dishwasher

Nuwave publishes no dishwasher statement for the Bravo Pro Smart Air Fryer Toaster Oven. Its bullets cover the fan design, the heater ratio control, 10 presets, multi-layer even cooking and a 450°F maximum temperature, and stop there. Nothing in them addresses cleaning the basket or any other part in a dishwasher.

Breville publishes no dishwasher statement for the BOV900BSS Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro. The bullets cover the Element iQ system, super convection, 13 cooking functions, the 16 x 13.5 x 7 inch interior, the LCD display, the included accessories and a 2 Year Limited Product Warranty at 1800 Watts and 120 Volts. Cleaning instructions are not among them.

For both ovens, the honest reading is that this site has not compared a published dishwasher claim because the makers do not publish one. That is not a claim that the parts are unsafe in a dishwasher. It means the maker has not said, and a coated basket is the kind of part where the maker’s word is the only reliable guide.

What the dishwasher itself brings to the basket

The portable dishwasher picks show how much heat and water a basket would meet. COMFEE’ states that the Hygiene wash cycle boosts water temperature to 162 °F rinsing and a maximum of 192 °F, and that the machine holds 6 Liter in its built-in tank. A coated basket that sits through a cycle at that temperature is exposed to more heat than a sink of warm water delivers.

reukmuuc states that its countertop dishwasher heats wash water to 75°C and runs five programs, including heavy, normal, delicate, quick and fruit. The delicate program is the one a coated part would want if the maker permits machine washing at all. Neither figure tells you whether a given basket survives the cycle; only the air fryer maker’s statement does that.

Placement matters too. reukmuuc states the two-tier shelf holds over 40 pieces of cutlery and accommodates 11.8-inch plates when the upper basket is removed. A large air fryer basket takes up room that plates would otherwise use, and in a compact machine it may not sit where the spray arm reaches it evenly.

How to read a dishwasher claim precisely

Read which parts the sentence names. Cosori names the cooking basket and the crisper plate. Ninja names the crisper plates. Typhur says select parts without listing them. Those are three different levels of confirmation, and only the first covers the basket by name.

Then check whether the lid, probe or any electronic part is excluded. An air fryer maker that names the basket usually means the basket alone, not the base unit it slides into.

Finally, treat a missing statement as missing, not as a yes. If the maker’s bullets run to the end without mentioning the dishwasher, hand washing is the choice that stays inside what the maker has published.

Hand washing and care for coated baskets

DOYOLLA states hand wash with warm water and keep dry after clean for its 8.5 inch rattan baskets. BAVIFY states you shake out excess flour and let the basket dry thoroughly. Neither is an air fryer, but the principle carries: a maker who wants hand washing says so plainly.

For a coated air fryer basket, warm water, a soft sponge and a full dry before storage keep the coating intact. Abrasive pads work against the nonstick surface that Cosori and Ninja both describe. If food is stuck, soak first rather than scrape.

If your model is one of the two ovens with no published dishwasher statement, that routine is the whole answer. If it is the Cosori TurboBlaze, the maker’s statement covers the basket and crisper plate, and the top rack with a mild cycle is the conservative reading of a claim that does not specify a rack.
