How the Five Compare on the Numbers
The five manual grinders on this list span a published weight range of 0.399 lb to 1.874 lb. That is a difference of 1.475 lb, which is more than three times the weight of the lightest model. The ByteX lid attachment is the lightest at 0.399 lb. The PARACITY is the heaviest at 1.874 lb. For a grinder that goes into a pack, that gap is the first thing a buyer notices.
Capacity is published for only two of the five. The CEVING states 60g and the HZBSGZR states 30g. The ByteX, CIRCLE JOY, and PARACITY do not publish a bean capacity. Grind settings are published for three: the CEVING and CIRCLE JOY both state 40 external settings, and the HZBSGZR states 40 settings without saying whether they are external or internal.
The table does not tell you how any of these grinders performs. No one at Lush has used them. It also does not tell you burr diameter, handle length, or the actual particle distribution of the grounds. Those figures are not published by the manufacturers. What the table does show is which models can be compared on a given specification and which cannot.
Weight and Packing Size for Travel
The lightest option
The ByteX lid attachment is the lightest at 0.399 lb. It is also the smallest in height at 4.13 in. It is not a standalone grinder: it is a lid that fits a regular mouth Mason jar, and the jar is not included. A buyer who already owns Mason jars adds only the lid and crank to a pack.
The HZBSGZR is the next lightest at 0.72 lb. It includes a glass jar and a 30g capacity. The difference between the ByteX and the HZBSGZR is 0.321 lb. For a weekend trip, that difference is small. For a long hike, the ByteX is the lighter item to carry.
The heaviest option
The PARACITY is the heaviest at 1.874 lb. It also publishes the largest height at 8.07 in. It includes two 11oz glass jars and a nonslip silicone base. The weight comes with a capacity advantage: two jars mean one can hold beans while the other holds grounds.
The CEVING is 1.102 lb, which is 0.772 lb less than the PARACITY. The CIRCLE JOY is 1.025 lb, which is 0.077 lb less than the CEVING. Among the three heavier models, the CIRCLE JOY is the lightest, but all three are more than twice the weight of the ByteX.
Adjustment and Capacity
External settings
The CEVING and CIRCLE JOY both publish 40 external settings. The CEVING states each click adjusts by 0.05mm. The CIRCLE JOY does not publish a step size. External settings mean the ring is accessible without removing the hopper, which the manufacturers present as a convenience for switching brew methods.
The HZBSGZR publishes 40 settings but does not state whether they are external or internal. The ByteX and PARACITY do not publish a setting count. For those three, a buyer cannot compare the adjustment range on published figures alone.
Bean capacity
The CEVING publishes a 60g capacity, the largest on the sheet. The HZBSGZR publishes 30g. The difference is 30g, so the CEVING holds twice as many beans by the published figure. The ByteX, CIRCLE JOY, and PARACITY do not publish a bean capacity.
For a single cup, 30g is enough for most brew methods. For a full carafe or multiple cups, the 60g capacity of the CEVING reduces the number of refills. The PARACITY’s two 11oz jars are a different approach: the jars hold grounds or beans, but the manufacturer does not publish the bean hopper capacity.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
Campers and hikers. The ByteX lid attachment is the lightest at 0.399 lb and the smallest in height at 4.13 in. It requires a regular mouth Mason jar, which many campers already carry.
Travelers who want a viewing jar. The HZBSGZR Mini weighs 0.72 lb and includes a glass jar with a 30g capacity. The glass lets you watch the grind without opening the hopper.
Brewers who switch methods often. The CIRCLE JOY Mini has 40 external settings and a clear glass grounds hopper. The external ring is reachable without disassembly.
Batch brewers. The CEVING holds 60g, the largest published capacity here. It also has 40 external settings and a stainless steel burr. It weighs 1.102 lb.
Home brewers who want two jars. The PARACITY includes two 11oz glass jars and a nonslip silicone base. It is the heaviest at 1.874 lb and publishes the largest height at 8.07 in, so it suits a counter more than a pack.
What We Could Not Verify
Several specifications are not published by the manufacturers. These are the figures we looked for and could not source.
- Burr diameter in millimeters for all five grinders.
- Bean capacity for the ByteX, CIRCLE JOY, and PARACITY.
- Grind setting count for the ByteX and PARACITY.
- Body material for the CEVING and PARACITY.
- Handle length for the CEVING, ByteX, HZBSGZR, and PARACITY.
- Whether a jar is included with the CEVING and CIRCLE JOY.
