How the Five Compare on the Numbers
A shallow cabinet is a fixed gap, so the figure that decides a mixing bowl set is the height of the nest once the lids are on. Two of these five publish a real height for a five bowl set and the two figures are nothing alike: Deedro publishes 5.5 inches and Priority Chef 12.3, for the same 1.5 to 5 quart range.
The rest publish less. Cuisinart publishes 10.25 by 10.25 by 6.0 inches for three bowls without lids. Glad publishes 11.125 by 8.75 by 6.37 inches for one 3 quart bowl and states the 6.37 in words. Koocovel publishes no unit figures at all, only a box of 7.8 by 7.8 by 3.9 inches for three bowls.
What the table cannot tell you is where the lids go. Four of these five nest and two of those arrive with a lid per bowl, and no listing says whether the lids nest with the bowls or sit beside them. Priority Chef publishes 12.3 inches and Deedro 5.5 for the same five capacities, which suggests one figure counts the lids and the other does not.
Two Sets of Five, Two Different Stacks
Five and a Half Inches Against Twelve
Deedro and Priority Chef publish almost the same product. Both are five stainless bowls with tight fitting BPA free lids, both cover 1.5, 2, 3, 4 and 5 quarts, both publish a non slip silicone base and measurement marks inside, and both are top rack dishwasher safe with the lids washed by hand. Then the heights diverge.
Deedro publishes 9.4 by 9.4 by 5.5 inches. Priority Chef publishes 10.3 by 10.3 by 12.3. On a low shelf one of those two sets goes in and the other does not, and nothing in either listing explains the gap. Neither publishes a weight, so there is no second figure to cross check against.
What Each Set Gives You Inside the Bowl
Priority Chef publishes etched measurements that double as measuring cups, which is the only use of the word etched on this fact sheet. A printed mark wears and an etched one does not, so on a set you will wash a thousand times that distinction is worth the sentence. Deedro publishes precise measurement marks inside without saying how they are made.
Cuisinart publishes nothing inside the bowls at all. Its five bullets are the set count, that the bowls nest for convenient storage, a dishwasher safe design, durable stainless steel construction and a non slip base. That is the briefest listing of these five and the only one that publishes a weight, at 3.0 pounds for three bowls of 1.5, 3 and 5 quarts.
One Bowl, and a Box of Three
A Single Bowl With a Handle and a Spout
Glad is the only single bowl among these five and the only one that publishes a handle. It states an ergonomic handle for control while blending, stirring and whisking, an embedded pour spout, and a 3 quart capacity given also as 12 cups. The figure it publishes for depth is 6.37 inches, stated in words as well as in its fields.
For a shallow cabinet one bowl is a different proposition from five. Glad publishes 11.125 by 8.75 by 6.37 inches and that is the whole of it, with nothing to nest and nothing to stack. It publishes a rubber layer at the base against skidding, BPA free plastic and dishwasher permission, and no weight.
The Only Percentage on the Page
Koocovel publishes the one quantified storage claim on this fact sheet: nesting the three bowls reduces cabinet space by up to 70 percent. It is a claim rather than a measurement, because the listing never says 70 percent of what, and the bowls themselves carry no published dimension at all.
What Koocovel does publish is three capacities: 2.3 quarts, 2.9 and 4.75, which is the only nesting set here that does not start at 1.5. Its dimension fields were set aside as a package, and the listing publishes 7.8 by 7.8 by 3.9 inches for the box of three. It publishes a thick non slip rubber base and top rack dishwasher use.
Weights, Washing and the Word Nesting
Four of Five Publish No Weight
Cuisinart publishes 3.0 pounds and the other four publish nothing. That is unusual on a fact sheet of sixteen listings, and it matters here because weight is the second figure you would use to sanity check a height. A five bowl stainless set at 12.3 inches and a five bowl stainless set at 5.5 should not weigh the same.
Elsewhere in this pool the weights that are published run from 0.98 pounds for one OXO batter bowl to 3.0 for three Cuisinart bowls and 3.0 for three Rorence bowls with lids. None of those helps with the two five bowl sets picked here, because neither Deedro nor Priority Chef gives a figure to compare.
Nesting, Stated Four Ways
Every set here says it nests and none says how far. Cuisinart states the bowls nest together for convenient storage. Deedro states a space saving nesting design and that each bowl has its own fitted lid so nothing goes missing. Koocovel states stackable nesting functionality. None of the three publishes a nested height.
Priority Chef is the exception, and only by accident: its published fields give 12.3 inches of height, which is the closest thing to a nested figure anywhere on this sheet even though the listing never calls it that. Washing splits the same way, with three of the five naming the top rack and two telling you to wash the lids by hand.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
The shelf gap is the constraint. Deedro publishes 9.4 by 9.4 by 5.5 inches for five stainless bowls of 1.5 to 5 quarts with airtight lids, measurement marks inside, a non slip silicone base and top rack dishwasher use.
You want a figure you can weigh. Cuisinart publishes 3.0 pounds and 10.25 by 10.25 by 6.0 inches for three stainless bowls of 1.5, 3 and 5 quarts, with a non slip base, nesting storage and no lids.
Etched marks matter more than the stack. Priority Chef publishes five bowls of 1.5 to 5 quarts with etched measurements that double as measuring cups, tight fitting BPA free lids, a non slip silicone base, and fields of 10.3 by 10.3 by 12.3 inches.
One bowl does the whole job. Glad publishes a single 3 quart bowl, given also as 12 cups, at 11.125 by 8.75 by 6.37 inches, with an ergonomic handle, an embedded pour spout, a rubber base and dishwasher permission.
You want the maker to quantify the saving. Koocovel publishes three bowls of 2.3, 2.9 and 4.75 quarts, a claim that nesting reduces cabinet space by up to 70 percent, a thick non slip rubber base, and a box of 7.8 by 7.8 by 3.9 inches.
What We Could Not Verify
Every figure above is a maker’s own published number or sentence, taken from the listing itself. These are the things we went looking for across all sixteen listings on this fact sheet and could not find.
- A nested height stated as a nested height by any of the sixteen listings.
- Why two five bowl sets of the same capacities publish 5.5 inches and 12.3 inches.
- A weight from Deedro, Priority Chef, Glad or Koocovel, four of these five picks.
- Any bowl dimension at all from Koocovel, whose only figures are a box and a percentage.
- Whether the lids nest inside the bowls or stack beside them on either lidded set.
- What the Koocovel figure of 70 percent is measured against.
