How the Five Compare on the Numbers
Every one of these five publishes a capacity, and no two of them mean the same thing by it. KitchenAid publishes 7.43 quarts and does not say whether that is the bowl or the basket. GoodCook publishes both: a 6 quart container and a basket that holds 4 quarts. Tarkeen and SUSTEAS publish a basket volume in liters and a quart figure on the label.
The piece counts diverge further than the volumes. Tarkeen and SUSTEAS each include five interchangeable cutting blades, which makes the spinner a slicer that also dries lettuce. VLHOMEGO includes no blades and adds a silicone storage cover for the fridge. GoodCook and KitchenAid include a bowl, a basket and a lid, and nothing else.
What the table will not tell you is how the blades attach, how many parts come apart for washing, or whether the 7.43 quart figure on the KitchenAid label describes the bowl you serve from or the basket you fill. Two listings give an overall size and two give none at all. A sixth listing in this pool, the two-piece Kitchen Details spinner, was left out because it publishes no dimension and no weight for the spinner, only 10.6 by 10.6 by 6.6 inches for the box it ships in.
What Arrives in the Box, Piece by Piece
The Two That Include Cutting Blades
Tarkeen calls its spinner a five in one and lists washing, drying, cutting, mixing and storing. Five interchangeable blades do the cutting, and the listing adds citrus juicing and egg yolk separation to the same set of parts. SUSTEAS calls its own a three in one for washing, drying and chopping, with five blades in 304 stainless steel and a separate egg yolk separator.
Those five blades are the reason to buy either one for a kit rather than for lettuce. They are also the part of the listing that comes with a warning: SUSTEAS states plainly that the blades are extremely sharp and should be handled with care. Neither maker publishes what the five blades cut, beyond slicing, shredding and dicing, and neither states a blade thickness.
The Lid Is Not Always One Lid
Tarkeen is the only one here that ships two lids. One spins and one seals: the listing states you cover the bowl with the included storage lid and put it straight into the refrigerator, and that both lids are BPA free. That is the single most useful extra piece on this page for anyone who preps on Sunday and eats on Wednesday.
VLHOMEGO reaches the same end by a different route. Its second cover is soft silicone rather than a rigid snap-on lid, and the listing states it conforms around the rim and will fit many round bowls of roughly 17 to 21 cm. GoodCook, KitchenAid and SUSTEAS ship one lid each, and none of the three publishes any way to close the bowl for storage.
Reading the Capacity Figure on the Label
Bowl Volume and Basket Volume Are Different Numbers
GoodCook is the only one of the five that publishes both. Its transparent container is stated at 6 quarts and its removable spinner basket at 4 quarts, which is the difference between what the tool holds and what it dries. That gap is where every other capacity figure on this page becomes ambiguous, because a spinner basket has to leave room for water to be thrown into.
KitchenAid publishes 7.43 quarts and attaches it to nothing. It is the highest capacity figure on this page and the least specific one. Tarkeen and SUSTEAS both solve the problem the other way: they publish a basket volume, 5 liters and 4.5 liters, and leave the outer bowl unmeasured. VLHOMEGO states about 3 liters, or 3.2 quarts, for the whole spinner.
Quarts, Liters and Who the Maker Says It Feeds
Two makers translate their figures into servings. Tarkeen states its 5 liter basket is right for salads for three to four people. SUSTEAS states the same range for its 4.5 liter basket, which is a smaller basket and the same claim. Neither says what a serving is, so the numbers are worth more than the sentences that describe them.
VLHOMEGO goes the other way and tells you to check the size before buying. Its own bullet states the spinner is intentionally smaller than family sized spinners and measures about 8.27 inches wide by 6.7 inches high. It is the only listing on this page whose opening line is a warning about size rather than a claim about capacity.
What the Extra Pieces Cost You Afterwards
Washing a Five Blade Set
SUSTEAS is the most specific listing here on washing, and the specificity is a condition rather than a reassurance: the parts are stated dishwasher safe provided the temperature does not exceed 158 F. Tarkeen states its spinner is dishwasher safe without qualification. Between them that is ten blades, two baskets, three lids and two bowls going through a machine.
VLHOMEGO splits its own parts. The listing states the glass bowl is dishwasher safe and also microwave safe, and recommends hand washing the lid components and the basket to protect their shape and spinning performance. GoodCook states the spinner is dishwasher safe. KitchenAid publishes no washing instruction at all, which on a four part assembly with a pump inside the lid is the gap that matters most.
Where the Pieces Go When You Are Done
KitchenAid publishes the clearest answer to the storage question even though it publishes the least about washing. Its lock secures the pump mechanism inside the lid and the listing states the pieces nest for storage in a cabinet or a drawer. With 10.63 by 10.63 by 8.86 inches published, it is also the only one of the five whose stored footprint can be checked against a shelf before it arrives.
GoodCook publishes 6.8 by 10.3 by 12.5 inches and 1.45 pounds, the lightest of the three here that publish a weight at all, and it is the only one of the five with a pour spout built into the lid so water leaves without the lid coming off. Tarkeen publishes no overall dimension and no weight, so its stored size is unknown until it is on the counter.
Which One Fits Your Kitchen
Building a prep kit from nothing. Tarkeen ships five blades and two lids and states a 5 liter basket measuring 9.84 by 8.26 inches. It is the one listing here that covers washing, drying, cutting, mixing and storing in one set of parts, and the one that publishes no overall size.
Slicing more than drying. SUSTEAS publishes 10.04 by 7.28 by 10.24 inches and 3.22 pounds with five 304 stainless steel blades, an egg yolk separator and a 4.5 liter cutting basket. Its dishwasher statement carries a limit of 158 F, which is the only temperature figure any of these five publishes.
A small kitchen and a table to serve at. VLHOMEGO states about 8.27 inches wide by 6.7 inches high, 3.2 quarts, 3.5 pounds and a borosilicate glass bowl rated microwave safe. The silicone cover replaces a hard lid for fridge storage, and the lid and basket want hand washing.
Draining between spins. GoodCook publishes a 6 quart container, a 4 quart basket, 6.8 by 10.3 by 12.5 inches and 1.45 pounds. The pour spout and the turn knob are the whole of its feature set, and it is the only listing that separates bowl capacity from basket capacity.
Feeding a crowd and putting it away. KitchenAid publishes 7.43 quarts and 10.63 by 10.63 by 8.86 inches, with a pump that locks into the lid and pieces the maker states will nest. It publishes no weight, no washing instruction and no separate basket volume.
What We Could Not Verify
These are the questions the five listings do not answer, and nothing above has been filled in by inference.
- KitchenAid does not say whether its 7.43 quart figure is the outer bowl, the basket or the assembled spinner.
- Neither blade set publishes a blade thickness, a cut width or which of the five blades does which job.
- Tarkeen publishes no overall dimensions and no weight, only the basket footprint and volume.
- VLHOMEGO publishes no depth or footprint figure, only a stated width and height for the spinner.
- No listing states how many separate parts have to be washed after a single use.
- KitchenAid publishes no washing instruction, so whether the pump assembly may be immersed is unknown.
